Guide to Recharging Items
Many items with charges in EverQuest can be quite useful. However when they run out of charges it may be possible to recharge it to full... and usually fairly cheaply.
In order to determine if an item can be recharged you must first see if a merchant will buy it from you (but do not sell the item just yet). If a merchant will buy the item from you this guide will most likely allow you to recharge the item. Unfortunately this doesn't work on no drop items but it can work on lore items with some planning ahead.
Note: This guide pertains to blue server ONLY. Item recharging has been nerfed on the red server.
A list of items that can commonly be recharged is included below.
How to Recharge Items
Step 1: First of all make sure you have two of the items you want to recharge. If the item is a LORE item, you will want to have one instance of the item on two separate characters. One of the items should have full charges.
Step 2: Find a merchant that people don't use very often. You want to be able to sell an item to a merchant and see it in their items for sale list.
Step 3: Sell the Item with full charges to the merchant first. If the item is LORE, log over to the character with the clicky item with no charges. Then sell the item that you want to recharge to the merchant second.
The reason this works is because when a charged item is sold to a merchant they are all stored in the same inventory slot on the merchant. By selling a fully charged item to the merchant first, followed by a not fully charged item second, the game only remembers the number of charges on the first item and stores them both in the same slot on the merchant.
Caution: If you sell the item empty of charges first then the fully charged item second you will end up with two items without charges.
Step 4: Buy back your fully charged items and store away.
Note: This will work on lore items. There are a couple different ways you can go about doing this.
- Find a friend with a fully charged version of the item you want to recharge and have them sell it to a merchant.
- Make an alt to store a second set of lore items that you commonly use. When the time comes to recharge items, log on your alt to sell the fully charged item to a merchant, then log on your main and recharge (do not log on both at once, boxing will get you banned).
- Find a friend who has an alt with lore items that are commonly recharged and ask for their assistance.
