Servers

From Project 1999 Wiki
(Redirected from Red)
Jump to: navigation, search

Project 1999 itself currently has two servers, as well as several others which have been discussed but (so far) don't exist. On top of that there are many other EQ Emulator servers which are not run by Project 1999. This page tries to provide an objective overview of these servers.

Project 1999 Official Servers

  • Blue
    • Blue is Project 1999's most popular server, with over one thousand players online at peak times (and frequently even at off-peak times). Blue is a non-PvP server which contains EverQuest content from the classic era (when the game was first released) through the Velious expansion, and including all patches after that expansion up until (but not including) the Shadows of Luclin expansion. Someday after the Green/Recycle server is released Blue might gain custom content from Project 1999's developers, but currently it strives to imitate classic EverQuest as closely as possible.
In some ways Blue may be thought of as the "Beta" server, where the Project 1999 developers test their classic EverQuest code in anticipation of someday creating the Green/Recycle server.
  • Red
    • Red is Project 1999's far less popular PvP server, usually with less than a hundred players even at peak times. This server has its own unique PvP rules which is not the same as any of the classic "Zek" servers, but is inspired by their rules. Like Blue Red contains EverQuest content from the classic era (when the game was first released) through the Velious expansion, and including all patches after that expansion up until (but not including) the Shadows of Luclin expansion.

Project 1999 Anticipated/Proposed Servers

  • Green/Recycle
    • Green/Recycle are two names given by the players (but not the Project 1999 staff) for an anticipated new server. This server would only be released after all code for Classic-Velious Everquest had been completed (ie. after Blue has finished serving as a "beta" server), and would follow the classic timeline precisely. This is contrast to Blue, where the Kunark expansion lasted seven years; on Green/Recycle that expansion would last less than a year, just as it did on live. As such Green/Recycle would only last between two to three years before ending and starting over again ("recycling").
  • Discord
    • A new "Discord" PvP server was announced, and highly anticipated by Project 1999 PvP players. However, before it was released (or possibly after being released for only a short period of time?) the server project appears to have been shelved. It is unknown when (if ever) it will be released.
NOTE: This author didn't know the details of what the Discord server would actually be about (eg. what PvP rules it would have). Please feel free to edit this entry and add further details about the server if you know them.
