From this it would make sense that it is meant to be pronounced similar to the root word, Aegis (EE-jis). Aegolism pronounced similarly would be (EE-jo-lism). However every word is not pronounced the same as its root word, most of all in English.

It really simply is not pronounced EEjolism. It's really what one person thought and wrote, has no sway over most of the community. There is absolutely no way you could say there is a definitive or even preferred pronunciation here. Most people say ay-go, in any case.
