I started looking for Bristletoe at level 12 and I was halfway through level 14 before I found him. All the information contained on this page appears to be correct and he was not much more difficult than a regular grizzly bear. The first 3 days I spent running in between the 4 listed spawn points and killing all the grizzly's I found. I did not see Bristle at all. The 4th day I switched strategies. The -3117, -739 spawn location is the one I worked with. If you go to number 12 on the North Karana map and look on the hill to the NW of the farm you will see this spawn location. There is a tree that is smaller than all the rest. Either a grizzly or Bristle will spawn there. The hard part is finding out which wondering bear corresponds to that particular spawn location. If you wait long enough this bear will eventually path back, but he can also generally be found either just south of or just north of the druid circle. Once you locate which bear comes from this spawn location and kill it you can camp this one spot instead of just running around and hoping you are killing the PH's. On the 4th day this is what I started doing and I saw Bristle 3 times, twice on back to back spawns. I was looking for the Jerkin and he didnt have it that day. On the 5th day I camped him for about 3 hours and he finally dropped it. So hopefully this method can help you not spend as much time as I did looking for it. Also, spawn times on Green server are nerfed so this isnt the 10min 40second spawn that most places say it is. I counted it to be about about 6 and half minutes between spawns. Lastly, be careful where you sit to med. If you chill to close to the spawn location there is a HG that will wander through randomly (thats a bad day) as well as various level Griff's. Also the occasional lion. Some of it will kill you, all of it will be annoying and mess up your camp. If you do not kill the PH within about 30seconds to a minute of it spawning it will wander off and you will have to start back at trying to find which bear comes from that spawn location. I generally went south to right up against the water's edge to med and did not have any problems there, but if you want to be extra safe you can go hang out with the guards near the SK bridge. That isn't very far away. I hope this helps! Good hunting! |
