I made this guide because I had a few questions going in and I ended up messing the event due to being ill prepared. It is relatively easy... once you know how it goes down. This can depend a lot on your class though.

If you do the bare minimum of killing you have to, the event takes about 20 minutes to complete.

Lull/harmony classes can make this much easier but you will still have to deal with orcs.

Having 1-2 DPS dispatch stuff ahead while someone keeps an eye on him is probably the best way to go about it. Some 50+ classes will be able to solo it without much trouble though.

About Boridain

Boridain Glacierbane does insignificant damage so don't put too much faith into him, You'll need a bit of DPS. The good side of this is pets will usually rip aggro pretty quickly but mobs will still prioritize players if you get within melee range so if you're a caster and things turn ugly, get in there.

Lulling potential aggro works well but he will attack orcs that come within his aggro range no matter what so you'll want to be proactive on those, pull them away before he attacks to be safer and to speed up the process.

He's a slow walker and likes to take breaks. The zone being on a 6:40 timer makes it that you can't effectively clean up the areas before you start the event, it will most likely have respawned by the time you get there. Also, even if he's slow, the zone is very hilly so it isn't uncommon you'll lose sight of him while you deal with something else.

Keep in mind he remains a mob so you can catch him in friendly fire with offensive AEs so be very mindful of that.

The event

Once you give him the axe he'll walk down the hill straight for the giant fort (#4 on the map). If you've ever been to Eastern Wastes you'll know the zone if filled to the brim with roamers. Keep your head on a swivel at all times and if you have lull/harmony, be proactive. On the way to the giant fort there's a couple of blizzard dervishes and griffons that tend to path the area.

Once you get to the giant fort he'll walk up straight to the 2 A Frost Giant Savage and they'll aggro him. Either lull/harmony them in advance or pull them before he gets there to make it easier on you. Watch out because A Frost Giant Captain sometimes paths to the front. If nothing aggro he'll just turn around and keep walking. If you chose to get rid of the giants be quick about it so you don't lose sight of him or allow him to get into trouble.

Next he'll walk to the ulthork/walrus area (#2 on the map) with ruins in the valley where giants and orcs hang out. There are 2-3 ulthorks and a walrus that path the area so be on high alert. He'll walk to the bottom and go aggro A Ry`Gorr clan lookout and A Frost Giant. Even if you lull the giant you'll have to deal with the orc so pull him before he gets there.

Next he's headed to the orc fort (#6 on the map). Same deal as the giant fort but with 2 ry'gorr orcs. There's a bunch of orc roamers on the way so keep an eye open. Remember it is useless to lull the orcs so as soon as you have the fort in sight run to the 2 entrance guards and pull them away. Quickly dispose of them and go back to Boridain. Also watch out here because the Ry`Gorr Emissary sometimes paths through there.

Last step, he's headed back to the starting point, with the usual trash in between. When he reaches the top of the hill, Rabid Tundra Kodiak will spawn. He will walk toward Boridain and they'll get into a fight. Now quickly kill it, loot it and turn it in as fast as possible.

BEWARE: There are a few ways in which the kodiak part can go wrong (aside from the obvious error of attacking Boridain):

If Boridain kills the kodiak, then the corpse will disappear.

The kodiak spawn triggers a 60-120 seconds countdown for boridain despawning. If you're not quick enough you won't be able to do the turn in.

While you are killing the kodiak, Boridain will attack any nearby orcs, but this does not reset his despawn timer. So, once the orc is killed, Boridain is likely to immediately despawn. Other zone trash also path over the hill that could keep him in combat. It is important to intercept/lull them while you burn down the kodiak.

If you are not able to kill the kodiak quickly enough (which is likely if you are solo), then make sure that you at least kill the kodiak and loot the skin. When Boridian respawns (3 hours later), you can give him another Dull Bladed Axe. Once he starts walking, immediately give him the Rabid Kodiak Skin to receive the reward. Boridain will give you the Broken Axe and keep walking (to his death, unless someone escorts him). If you don't start the event, Boridain will just eat your skin.
