Highres4X HD

The Highres4X HD project is a full re-scale of the Highres_s3d files at 4X the pixels. Only Classic, Planes and Kunark boat zones completed. The Zone, Character, and Object files are all Up-scaled for modern monitors with the use of Gigapixel,and art correction with Gimp. Some assets and textures have been brought over from Lowres_s3d for several reasons. It either did not scale well or the Highres files took away the atmosphere that should be present for the Classic feel and/or Memories. The file sizes were adjusted to size in some cases, as some of these Zone files could be over 100K kb, most will be under 60K kb to have less issues with loading/crashing.

Be Informed: These files are significantly bigger than what the engine is familiar with, I’ve tested this both with and without Texturecache and Texturecompression on/off in eqini file. The effect either way has been minimal as far as zone time. You’ll have a longer zone time overall using this.

Installing either back up your .s3d files or have a copy of Highres_s3d or Lowres_s3d which ever you prefer. Extract the Highres 4X.s3d into your main P99 folder and allow for overwrite.

Art Correction

The Highres 4X does not overwrite or effect EQClassicHD.

Many areas of art were poorly created and added to older Lowres styles but many of those area's have since been reworked by Skairkrow. old highres left and new 4X HD right Poor Mage tower upscale left and new 4X HD right

Files with transparencies are fixed, such as the bear head mount around Norrath. There should be no need to do the transparency patch if you use these Highres 4x along with EQClassicHD

Alot of in Zone character transparencies and objects have been fixed like Felwithe guard helms now show their eyes. Many of the Character NPC Face/Helms were extracted from Modestlaw' Character overhaul. All mobs and all helms are still upscaled 4X and transparency applied to them where applicable. The Mob NPC's are still all extracted from Highres and up-scaled myself.

  • If you use Modestlaw's Character modifications it will overwrite Highres 4X HD characters higher resolutions as well as EQClassicHD's gequip.s3d

Future/current work

There are plans currently in work with Kunark / Timorours, Firona,and Overthere are included with the classic download, then Velious after that.

Testing area's that we have access to but not Planes or raids. So if you see anomalies send Quylein a message and it'll get fixed.

== Optional Water Revamp ==

Transparent, blue water exchange - Transparency works in several area’s it looks great and has no impact on your underwater vision. Added only to cities and shorelines. You will still have to get aqua vision or follow Prexus if you want to see clear underwater

Classic left and Clear right

Area’s like OOT and Erudxing I exchanged the colors to a more suitable and less nauseating color as transparency doesn’t fit well. Also, Oasis and Nro have a new and better cycle texture. Nektulos is now a river. Tox and The Karanas have more of a shore/river color to them.

This mod has no effect on underwater vision and excursions. Extract this file after you Extract Main Highres 4X file.

Just extract zone files after the Highres 4X files into main P99 folder.

Highres 4X moon

This is a download if you would like a 4X moon and to add back stars in the night sky. To install extract folder directly into P99 folder it will overwrite moon/stars.s3d. If you want to change it back. Open up the current patch for P99 and extract Resources folder back into main P99 folder.

Optional Tradetables/crates & Ghost spirit wolf and new elementals

This is a gequip.s3d file that has EQclassicHD files but I added to them as to have upscaled tradeskill tables and some crates that only work global with this file. new trade tables

This Global_chr.s3d file contains EQClassicHD files along with Mage Elementals & Shaman spirit pet. * the spirit wolf also makes you spirit wolf if you are in wolf form as a Druid/shared wolf. new Summons

Bugs & Anomalies

There has been attempts made to correct some visual bugs but most of the work here has been with textures and transparencies. If there are issues please feel free to contact the forum post and it will be looked at.

Yes! Some of this is not classic.. but hey neither is /shadow on.

Know anomalies that might stand out now that you've upgraded your textures and are looking. Such as wall art in Neriak, or world blur; this happens because the polygons are to big and it's pulling in one texture and stretching. We attempted to fix the issues and if the issue can be fixed it was, but some of this stuff is in all versions lowres/highres.
