Much of the following information was taken from Allakhazam.com. I added in my own personal experiences as well (I'm going off of 8 year old memories so some of the info may or may not be entirely accurate). All credit goes to the original authors where it is used in this article.

Necromancer 1st Rank

Ask Master Xydoz in the Tower of Death about the Apprentice Skullcap. He wants you to prove yourself by bringing him the brains of four Sarnak Hatchlings and he will reward you with the Apprentice Skullcap. Sarnak Hatchlings are found in the Lake of Ill Omen near the entrance to West Cabilis. The hatchlings also drop "a torn tapestry", and "a ripped tapestry", save these for the second skullcap.

Reward: Apprentice Skullcap - 1st Rank

Necromancer 2nd Rank

Talk to Master Xydoz again and ask him about the Second Rank Skullcap. He tells you he wants a faded tapestry. You need to acquire two pieces of the now-destroyed tapestry and repair them. The pieces are the Torn and Ripped Tapestry, which you find off of Sarnak Hatchlings in the Lake of Ill Omen. Tailor the two pieces together (the result is a mended tapestry, not a faded one) and hand them in along with your Apprentice Skullcap - 1st Rank for your Apprentice Skullcap - 2nd Rank. EQTraders lists the trivial for this at 23.

Reward: Apprentice Skullcap - 2nd Rank

Necromancer 3rd Rank

Talk to Master Rixiz and ask about the Third Rank Skullcap. He tells you he wants the brain of a Sarnak Crypt Raider and hands you a glass canopic. In this you must place the brain of a Sarnak Crypt Raider and embalming fluid. This quest is going to take a little smithing and brewing to complete.

To create the embalming fluid (Brewing trivial 21) you need:

2x Bog Juice (Crafted, Brewing trivial 21) 1x Bone Granite Powder (Crafted , Smithing trivial 21) 1x Rubbing Alcohol (Bought)

You're also going to need to do this quest to get the granite pebbles for the Bone Granite Powder.

Acquiring the brain is a little more straightforward. Head to the LoIO and head to the "Explorer Tower" (#7 on this map). Kill everything around the tower area and the Crypt Raider will eventually spawn. Place both of these items in the canopic and hit combine. Head back to Master Rixiz for your new Skullcap.

Reward: Apprentice Skullcap - 3rd Rank

Necromancer 4th Rank

Talk to Master Kyvix next. He tells you he needs some new components. These are a creeper cabbage, a heartsting telson with venom, brutling choppers and a scalebone femur. He then hands you a Brood Sack and sends you on your way.

Creeper Cabbage is dropped by Man Eating Creepers in the Swamp of No Hope. Most people seem to agree that the best place to hunt these are near the "Outcast Iksar Camp" (#3 on this map). This is a food item so make sure you have plenty of food so you dont accidentally eat it.

A Heartsting Telson (called a Scorpion Telson) is dropped by Heartsting Scorpions in the Field of Bone. The one you want has the one shot of Poison Bolt.

Brutling Choppers (called Intact Brutling Choppers) drop from Skulking Brutlings in Warsliks Woods. Again, most people seem to agree that the best place to hunt this is in the area of the "Bandit Lake" (#10 on this map).

A Scalebone Femur (called a Cracked Femur) is dropped by Greater Scalebones in the Lake of Ill Omen. A good place to hunt these is in the same area you hunted the Sarnak Crypt Raider..

Combine all 4 of these in your Brood Sack and head back to Master Kyvix for your reward.

Reward: Dark Binder Skullcap

Necromancer 5th Rank

After you complete the fourth rank quest, Master Kyvix says something about the "true mission". At this point he gives you a Spectacle and sends you to see someone named Ryx.

Ryx is in the Overthere at the Dark Elf Outpost. He is disguised as a skeleton worker on top of one of the boats that are in dry dock being built. Giving him the spectacle gets you the following message:

"I live to study and quench my thirst. I live to bash the faces of the Pariah and entangle myself in the ivy of evergreen. I live. I want to remember."

This translates into the following four items: A Forsaken Pariah Mask from an Iksar Pariah (Lake of Ill Omen, Warslik Woods, Swamp of No hope), An Ivy Evergreen Ringband from the Forest Giant Evergreens (Warsliks Woods), a Spectacle (received from Master Kyvix), and a Bottle of Green Death Rum (bought in East Cabilis)

Once he has all these four items he gives you a metal key. Give the Metal Key to Tin Banker Assistant at the Overthere outpost. You have to wait till the General who is in the bank leaves to check up on his troops. You have to be at least level 20 to finish this part. Giving the key to the banker will get you a tome and some money. Take the tome to Master Kyvix.

Reward: Occultist Skullcap

Necromancer 6th Rank

Master Kyvix now wants you to track down an item called the Kor Sha Candlestick, which is in 2 pieces. He sends you to speak with Keeper Rott (one of the necro spell merchants). Keeper Rott tells you he doesn't have the pieces but tells you where to find them...on Sarnak Revenants in the Lake of Ill Omen.

Head to the Sarnak Fort and kill revenants until you get the pieces; Foot of Candlestick and Stem of Candlestick. Take the pieces to Master Kyvix and receive your next Skullcap.

Reward: Revenant Skullcap

Necromancer 7th Rank

Time to talk to Harbinger Glosk. Hail him and say "I am the new revenant." He wants your help finishing a scepter for the Emperor. He hands you an Unfinished Scepter and tells you to find 4 gems and combine the gems and the scepter in the Forge of Dalnir.

First the gems. The gems you want are: -Eye of RokGus (dropped from Chief RokGus in Frontier Mountains) -Gem of Yet to Come (dropped from a sarnak gem oracle in Lake of Ill Omen) -Jewel of Ganak (dropped from Red Eye Jack in Firiona Vie) -Shiny Emerald (dropped from greater charbones in Emerald Jungle)

After you have the gems, the next step is to find the Forge of Dalnir (aka the "Always Works" forge). The forge is located on the third level of Dalnir (#10 on this map). In order to be able to use the forge, you need the Forge Hammer of Dalnir. The hammer drops off of an undead blacksmith, also located on the third level of Dalnir (#9 on this map). The hammer is NO RENT so make sure you have the gems before you start camping the blacksmith. Combine the scepter, gems and hammer in the forge to receive the Scepter of Emperor Vekin. Return this to Harbinger Glosk and receive you shiny new skullcap.

Reward: Sorcerer Skullcap

Necromancer 8th Rank

The final Skullcap in the questline. Go talk with an Iksar hermit (located in a cave just before you zone into the LoIO from West Cabilis). He tells you he is looking for a great sorcerer and hands you a flaxen hilt with some slots in it. He then tells you what to put into those slots.

The items you need are: -Flaxen Lock of Hair (drops from Chief RokGus in Frontier Mountains) -a Yellow Whip (drops from a wulfware lonewolf in the Dreadlands near the FV zoneline) -Large Tassel Bookmark (reward from The Tome Raider quest in Kaesora.

Combine these items to receive a new Flaxen Hilt and return to the Iksar hermit. Hand him the hilt and he will give you a Barbed Scale whip. Give him the whip and your skullcap and receive you reward.
