This quest is NOT available at Indifferent faction. he will say "Don't take this personally, but I cant trust you with such matters" after returning his backpack. Tomer Instogle is a monk hurt near the western walls outside of Qeynos city.
You say, 'Hail, Tomer Instogle'
- Tomer Instogle says 'Ahhhggggh.. Those mangy [dogs] put up a tough fight.. If I don't make it back to the Clan House soon, it'll be all over for me.'
You say, 'What dogs?'
- Tomer Instogle says 'It's those Darkpaws.. They've beaten me pretty badly.. but they'll get theirs soon enough!'
You say, 'Seta sent me to find you'
- Tomer Instogle says 'Oh.. Thank goodness you found me.. I'm lost and weak, those [mutts] are a vicious lot.. Can you carry my [backpack] for me?'
You say, 'What mutts?'
- Tomer Instogle says 'It's those Darkpaws.. They've beaten me pretty badly.. but they'll get theirs soon enough!'
You say, 'I will carry your backpack'
- Tomer Instogle says 'Thank you, friend.. Now, can you lead me back to master Seta of the [Silent Fist Clan]?'
Receive a Ruined Backpack.
- NOTE: "The Backpack must be in the top level of your inventory for the quest to proceed."[1]
You say, 'Silent Fist Clan?'
- Tomer Instogle says 'I am a new member of the Silent Fist Clan.. I need someone from my guild to help me find my way back.'
You say, 'I will take you to the guild' (P99: 'I will LEAD you back to Master Seta') (Note: The first time I said this line, Tomer responded with his "Leave me alone!" line, despite having Kindly faction. I said the line a second time, and that time he decided to follow, and I was able to complete the quest.)
- Tomer Instogle says 'Lead the way, and I shall follow. When we make it back, please inform Seta that you have rescued me.'
Once back in the monk guild, talk to Seta Bakindo.
You say, 'I have found Tomer' (P99: 'I found Tomer')
- Seta Bakindo says 'Great work, _____! We thought that was the last we'd seen of young Tomer.'
- Tomer Instogle says 'I am now accepting quests.'
- Tomer Instogle says 'Yes, he saved my life.. I owe him much thanks. Please return my pack to me now, good friend.'
Give Tomer the backpack. (P99: Upon giving the backpack, he took it but did not trigger the next steps. I had to log to have him discontinue following.)
- Tomer Instogle says 'Oh, you have the makings of a true hero.. The Silent Fist Clan is proud to have you as an ally. May your soul guide and protect you through these chaotic times.'
- Your faction standing with Silent Fist Clan got better.
- Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better.
- Your faction standing with Ashen Order got better.
You gain experience!!
