Talk:The Techie's Bard AE Kiting Guide
Important Warning: Parts of this guide may violate Project 1999 rules, as it is against the rules to map any keyboard keys/joystick buttons to more than one keypress. In other words, you can make your joystick's "A" button press the spacebar, or ctrl+spacebar, but not to spacebar, F1, 5.
--Jacmac (talk) 20:52, 29 May 2014 (UTC) Can you cite the location of a rule that covers this? The only statement of rules I've been able to find anywhere is here: http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5586 In this post I cannot find any statement that says pressing a joystick button (or similar) can not could not press 3 keys or 20 keys. I don't have a problem with such a warning, although I think it should be a bit more clear and put at the top of the guide rather than in a middle section. The guide itself (or parts of it) can't violate the server rules, but the player could by thier specific implementation.
Important Warning: Some of the following suggestions (the ones recommending binding multiple actions to a single button press) violate Project 1999 rules, which prohibit "any type of automatic control/response/manipulation/macro on your character in place of manual control." [1].
--Jacmac (talk) 21:38, 30 May 2014 (UTC) The post you cited says, "Programs that parse the log file are fine, as long as they do not do any type of automatic control/response/manipulation/macro on your character in place of manual control." It does not say anything about binding actions or key to buttons. Please don't add "interpretations" for what a post says as a warning. The guide does not advocate or suggest in any way that a player should or could use a parser to initiate any type of automatic control, response, manipulation, or macro. And the post makes no mention at all of binding keys, commands, or marcos to buttons or the hotbar in the game.
