Description
He's real big! Spawns in the caves at the end of the river, some would say a bear fortress. The two roaming skeletons are place holders (100% sure pathing skeletons are placeholders, killed the 2 pathing skeletons that path by the red "X"s on the map and 6-8 hours later bears were up pathing).
The Lich of Miragul is a separate spawn, so essentially there are 3 roamers if Lich is up (Lich + 2 other roamers), but only 2 roamers (skeletons and/or Glacier Bears) if not. Please note that the map used in the location to the left is slightly off on showing the correct spots of locations, however, the /loc posted are correct.
Beware of Lich of Miragul (Level 45) - Found in the underwater ice caves, roams. This Lich will proc a 1500 point lifetap. Enormous aggro radius, outruns SoW, sees Invis, sees Invis vs Undead, but can't see Rogue Hide/Sneak.
Lich Pathing of importance - When sitting at about location 4 on the bear caves map far enough out to see the Lich path left to right but not close enough agro it. The Lich will turn North (away from entrance) and path down the middle of path of the map away from the entrance (loc 4k,-4k to loc 4.5k,-4.1k).
The Lich will turn right/East heading down the path from loc 4.5k,-4.1k to loc 4.3k,-4.7k).
When the Lich is down this path this is the time to run from the entrance down the 1st left path of the bear caves and to the 2nd red "X" on the map and pull the bear back to the entrance the same way you came. I've often found the pathing bears at the intersection just below the 2nd red "X" on the map (North most "X").
Had level 3 Rogue Hide/Sneak into cave and be spotter for Bear & Lich, so I could pull Bear from 1st cave intersection to entrance without aggro'ing Lich. (Tip by: Kelldarr Ironbear).
Rogue tip ++ - Make a Dark Elf Rogue because they can actually see in the dark. Get it to level 3, and get it down there, spotting and with the rogue will be MUCH easier. Human Barbarian Rogue has major issues seeing in the dark caves, especially during night time hours. I had to stair at the floor and walk along a wall wile hiding in sneaking many times because there is no ambient light during night time hours. Ultravision on my Enchanter had no problem seeing in the dark at night time in there. Please learn from my pain. Oh you will need Enduring Breath in some form to get down there on the rogue, and the goblin scouts are level 3 so far to me so you can hold your own in a fight against the one in the bear cave entrance if you aggro it while scouting.
2/22/2022 (Green): No need To locate both pathers (ph skeles or bears) use a spotter (Green 2025 statement not 100% accurate - The 1 bear identified by the furthest South red "X" on the map image will path by the entrance, the other bear spawn did not seem to path by the entrance and I had to go in the left path and get him... after the Lich paths way away to right side of map). The glacier bear paths counter-clockwise around the outer ring, same as the Lich. This means that they both walk past the tunnel entrance at the first intersection. You can stand far enough from this intersection that you can see the Lich walk by without him aggro'ing (Just slowly walk up to intersection from the entrance, when the tunnel starts curving, stop. You should be able to stand there and still see the pathers).
From this spot, I was able to pull the bear back towards the entrance as the big boi walked past, with the Lich none the wiser. No guarantees that this is always the case - I may have gotten lucky with the spacing between the two mobs. The lich walked by first, with the bear following about 2-5 minutes later. (Tip by: Scruggs McGruggs)
Loot (2025 Green) - killed 4 bears and they dropped the Glacier Bear Pelt every time. Only 1 Ingot drop, which is what I was after.
