Garrison's Gambit

Garrison’s Gambit is a Guild-Only(ish) event held by <Castle> weekly on Thursday nights, in which the attendees all roll 1000 at the event start, and the winner gets to choose what we’ll be doing for the night, as well as first dibs on one specific drop (if applicable). For example, the winner might choose for the event to be Kael Plate House, and choose a plate breastplate as their item. The first plate breastplate that drops would go to that winner, and any other drops would be handled by our regular need-before-greed rules.

(Credit where credit is due: this event was inspired by a very similar event run by our friends in <Misfits of Marr>.)

How it Works

At the start of the event, all attendees will gather for the roll in West Commons, outside of the fishing hut at the shore of the lake. (We prefer everyone to attend the roll in person, but for those that can’t, a discord thread will be created up to an hour before the start of the event for folks that will arrive a little late. If you roll, you are expected to attend, even if you lose the roll and don’t like the target that was chosen.)

The roll will be /random 1000 (whether in-game or in the Discord thread). You may only roll once, so please don’t roll both in Discord and in game.

Once the winner is determined, that person will choose the event and the item they claim as their semi-guaranteed drop. (We can’t promise that the mob will drop what they want, but if it drops, they automatically get that item.) Depending on the event, we will either stay to farm additional drops (which will be handled through NBG random rolls), or in the case of epic fights such as spawned Faydedar, the second-place roller will choose the target for the rest of the evening.

Terms and Conditions

  • If you win the roll but can’t attend the entire event, you are only entitled to the drop if you are able to attend at least half of the event. (So if it is a three-hour event from in-person roll to finish, you must attend at least 90 minutes.)
  • Once you get your drop, you are still expected to stay for the rest of the event if possible. (If you loot and scoot, the raid leader may determine you ineligible for future rolls.)
  • Items chosen by winners are for need only for a Castle-tagged toon, and not for resale.
  • If you win the roll, you must pass on the roll the next time you attend so that we don’t have folks winning two or three times in a row. (In cases where we move on to another target chosen by the second-place roller, that person can still roll for the next event.)
  • If you choose a keyed dungeon and we do not have enough members in attendance keyed for that zone, you may be asked to choose a different target. If only a few keys are needed, we may be able to split up so that while some folks are getting keyed, the rest of the group is clearing towards the target. (We may also schedule some keying events in the meantime.)
  • If the target chosen by the winner is already camped, the winner will choose an alternate target.
  • Non-castle guests may be allowed to attend at the raid leader’s discretion and may roll on NBG drops, but are not allowed to roll to choose the target.

Example Targets

Here are some potential targets:

  • Sebilis Crypt, choosing an item like Hierophant’s Cloak or Jaundiced Bone Bracer
  • Sebilis Sporali King camp, choosing Fungi Tunic
  • Velketor’s Labyrinth, choosing Lute of the Howler
  • Spawned epic fights within our capacity, such as spawned Faydedar, Brother Z, or General V’Ghera
  • Howling Stones, choosing Blood Point dagger, Erudite Mask, etc.
  • Kael Plate House, choosing Plate Breastplate
  • Kael Arena, choosing a particular armor piece
  • Chardok, choosing Desiccated Halfling Mask, Girdle of Rapidity, Hammered Golden Hoop, etc.
  • Lowbie XP/PL night
