Pannicito's Iksar newbie Guide

Intro

I have always loved to play a necromancer since the first release of Everquest. I tried playing other classes but nothing compares with the excitement of being kos to mobs or city guards. My first character was a Erudite necromancer that was love by all (until they saw me eat elf and dwarf pies). So I am back to playing Everquest, but now as an Iksar. I believe Kunark is the place to level.

Levels 1-7 The Pit

These will be the most tedious levels, as you can't kill even or yellows by yourself. You will need to group or kill blues anywhere you can find them. I recommend sticking to pit and moving along the sides as you level. At this point I would pull spiders and skeletons. Save the silks and bones chips, you can get easy cash from travelers. You will get first lifetap spells at these levels along with fear and clinging darkness spells. I also have gate ready in case of a bad pull (most of the time I'm encumbered from collecting so much copper).

Levels 8-10 The Pit/Surrounding areas/Kurn's Tower

At level 8 you get your first undead direct damage spell, this will be your bread and butter in Kunark. Depending how you feel you can now go to Kurn's Tower and start pulling from entrance (darkness, fear, pet, dd and repeat). I usually chain cast my undead dd spells to out-damage my pet giving me full xp. My first time in Kurn's tower did not go so well (with my tail in between my legs I headed back to the pit). I decided to level a few more times in the pit pulling everything that was blue. At level 8 you also get your first mana regeneration spell (Dark Pact). This will help with down-time. I also recommend to start building up you bind wounds at this point. Helps a a lot when you fizzle a spell and need to heal.

Level 11-19 Kurn's Tower

Welcome to kurn's tower, this time I could not be turn away. Kill kill all skeletons. You move up the tower as the skeletons start to turn green. Always remember to learn the mob's pathing, it will save you from corpse retrievals.

Level 20-24 The Windmill

Once you have equipped you new mana spell, its time to head to Lake of Ill Omen (LOIO). Head over to the windmill pick a nice comfy spot and study the mob's pathing. Did I mention this before? Yes, sit and study how they move. Once you have a good idea where the mob's move, start pulling blue, even and yellow skeletons. And if you feel like wasting some mana , go ahead and pull kitties and goblins. I find the goblins(especially the casters) to be too much of a hassle plus Its very tough to land spells on evens and yellows.
