Chardok is the site of the ancient sarnak military fortress that has existed for centuries since the time of Emperor Atrebe, and is considered by the sarnaks to be their home.
Note the following event which occured on Live (10 Oct 2001, post-Velious patch) represents a serious revamp of the zone. This revamp is currently included in this page and needs to be removed.
Adventurers, glory seekers, and plunder-hungry knaves,
A few new tavern tales have been circulating from across the Deep. It appears that strife and civil unrest have once again plagued the lands of Kunark. Stories of treachery and terror within the ranks of the Sarnak have spilled forth from the mountain fortress of Chardok.
Only a few of the most cunning spies have made their way into the Sarnak hive during this brief time of turmoil, and their reports may have serious implications. The Brood of Di`zok seems to be more organized than before. Their leadership is becoming more structured... and much more brutal. Production in the mines appears to be increasing and soldiers have been amassing in great numbers.
Other tales have come from this mountain fortress as well. Terror squads and interrogators have decimated the ranks of reported Sarnak traitors. These squads have been working under the leadership of one of the Sarnak Collective's newest council members, Korocust. It can only be presumed that this cleansing is another step towards strengthening the foul brood.
These tales are hard to confirm, since many of your adventurous kind are prone to drink and to the occasional mistruth. If these tales are true, it would only stand to reason that new dangers may reveal new wealth and glory. Perhaps it is time for you to gather your best gear, finish your mug of ale, and head out to investigate.
Good luck adventurers.

Dangers
The entrance to the zone is not the same as the exit from it. When you enter the zone, if you turn around you will simply see a blank stone wall. From reports, upon entry to the zone you proceed deeper and keep to the left. This will lead you past the entrance to the main part of the zone and, up a hallway, to the exit.
Benefits
Much of the loot in this zone drops off of practically any monster within the zone, making any adventure into the zone useful in terms of obtaining loot (i.e. you don't have to camp a specific spawn to get what you want).
Also, there is now a banker here that is usable, so you don't have to travel far to do your banking. There is also a merchant here that sells unusual food and drink items, located at -80, +345.
This is also an area to get some high level spell drops, including some new spells.
Traveling To and From Chardok
Chardok can be reached through the evil lizard castle at approximately 5900, -3800. The zone entrance is not the same as the exit, which you can reach by traveling left into Chardok and will return to Burning Wood.
