Walkthrough

"Skeletal miners" are at the zoneline of Paineel in southern Toxxulia. Observe their back-and-forth dialogues:

abandoned heretic pet says 'Blast you skeletons! Why I ever ressurected you, I don't know!!'

abandoned heretic pet says 'Speed up the digging my pets!!'

a skeleton (miner) says 'We are not your pets!!'

a skeleton says 'We will speed up when you return our mining caps. There are falling rocks all over this place!! We could get killed!!'

Useless Cloth Cap can sometimes be looted from a kobold scout. Take a Cap to the two skeleton miners (or the abandoned heretic pet) at the entrance to Paineel.

Abandoned heretic pet

The abandoned heretic's pet wanders a path from the wall to the "porch" at Paineel.

abandoned heretic pet glowers at you dubiously -- You could probably win this fight.

Upon turning in Useless Cap:

abandoned heretic pet says, 'Good work, you should be running this operation instead of that Talrigar fellow. Have a small reward. A little bit of the gems I found while tunneling through this rock.'

You gain experience!!

You receive a low-level gem (Amber, etc)

Lefthand Busy skeleton

a skeleton glares at you threateningly -- You could probably win this fight.

• NOTE: a skeleton will attack if hailed or if too close
• NOTE: couldn't do turn in at Threateningly, had to sneak to succeed

You say, 'Hail, a skeleton'

a skeleton says, 'Can't you see we're busy here?!!'

a skeleton regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight.

Upon turning in Useless Cap:

a skeleton says, 'Good work, you should be running this operation instead of that Talrigar fellow. Have a small reward. A little bit of the gems I found while tunneling through this rock.'

You gain experience!!

You receive a low-level gem (Onyx, etc)

a skeleton glares at you threateningly -- You could probably win this fight.

• NOTE: a skeleton will attack if hailed or if too close
• NOTE: couldn't do turn in at Threateningly, had to sneak to succeed

You say, 'Hail, a skeleton'

a skeleton says, 'Grab a pick. Give us a hand!!'

a skeleton regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight.

Upon turning in Useless Cap:

a skeleton says, 'Aye.. You cut out the middleman.. I shall reward you.. hmm.. I have not found anything, how about.. <CRACK!! SNAP!! RIPP!!> How about something off meself?'

You gain experience!!

You receive an undead item (Bone Chips, Zombie Skin, etc)

Note: This quest does not affect any faction, and can be completed at dubious faction. Good aligned Erudites CAN successfully turn in to the heretic pet, who wanders outside of the tunnel.

Gave 10% experience at level 3.
