Images should not contain vulgar language or profanity or contain inappropriate words, inappropriate sexual references/imagery or other vulgar statements/imagery in the image or filename. Violation of this rule '''''will''''' result in a temporary or permanent ban from P99 Everquest Wiki and the image will be promptly renamed or removed.

== Main Namespace Rules ==
+
Image submissions falling into any of the categories where you would already find some images on the p99 wiki are highly encouraged!

Main namespace images should be used '''only''' via [[Special:Upload]], images uploaded through a users profile cannot comply with the above restriction due to the numerical linux timestamps added by that method of uploading.

=== File naming ===
+
In general, images of items should not be uploaded. Only in rare circumstances (classic screenshots proving existence, stats, etc) would they be useful.

Images must be uploaded with a filename that specifically describes what is in the picture. Abbreviations, player names, timestamps, or any other superfluous words that don't have anything to do with the item, key item, or mob, etc will be immediately moved. P99 Everquest Wiki cannot guarantee credit is retained when images are deleted in this manner.
+
=== NPCs ===

If you believe an image should be moved to a more descriptive file name, place a <nowiki>{{Template:File-move‎}}</nowiki>
+
* Images of NPCs should be named for example as "npc_a_giant_rat.png" (lower case capitalization). Typically, keep apostrophe (') and ticks (`) in the filename.
 +
* '''Classic (pre-Luclin) models are strongly preferred.''' In the future it would be nice to replace all non-classic model screenshots with screenshots from p1999.

=== Items ===
+
=== Players ===
*Images of items should be uploaded with a filename containing '''only''' the item or description name and nothing else. (e.g. '''Fine Steel Great Staff''' or '''Splintering Club''')
+
*Images should not contain any type of branding, such as a website name or the name of the uploader in the image or the filename.
+
*'''''Item images should not contain player signatures or be altered (''i.e.'' via photoshop or dat swaps) in any fashion.''''' Certain, albeit few exceptions for alterations, such as Windower, can be utilized in order to get an item to conform to standards.
+
*Images of items should not have transparent backgrounds showing other players, zones, or any other obstructions. This includes anything outside the border of the item. They should be easy to read with some type of solid background (we prefer #2, 4 and 6). If no other image is available, images with non-preferred backgrounds are acceptable until a more suitable replacement is uploaded.
+
*Images of items should contain text in the original game font, altered fonts are not appropriate, but are acceptable until a more suitable replacement is uploaded.
+

=== NPCs ===
+
Currently, the only place where you will find p99 player pictures is one per class epic quest, denoting the first player to receive that epic.
*Images of NPCs should be uploaded with a filename containing '''only''' the exact name of the NPC and nothing else. (e.g. '''Sagheera''' or '''Kaduru-Haiduru''')
+
*NPC images should be taken to the best of your ability with no other obstructions in the image besides the NPC. This includes a prohibition on inclusion of player characters with NPCs.
+
*The name must be displayed in the original game font, altered fonts are not appropriate, but are acceptable until a more suitable replacement is uploaded.
+
*Images must be a decent size to be seen visibly or clearly, anything lower than 15KB will be distorted in the articles. NPCs should be captured with the entirety of one's screen, where possible, to provide for maximum template compatibility.
+

+
=== Monster ===
+
* Images of monsters should be uploaded with a filename containing '''only''' the mob's name and nothing else. (e.g. '''Orc Pawn''' or '''a decaying skeleton''')
+
* Monster images should be taken to the best of your ability with no other obstructions in the image besides the Monster.
+
* The monster's name should be clearly visible in the original game font, altered fonts are not appropriate, but are acceptable until a more suitable replacement is uploaded.
+
*If a Monster is unclaimed, player characters generally do not need to be in the shot.
+
*Images should be taken from the front arc of the monster. It is understandable that there are times in the heat of battle where you may snap a shot and then upload it to the wiki. This is acceptable until a more suitable replacement is uploaded.

== Replacing Images ==

Images of other types, such as maps, strategy, etc, are acceptable (and encouraged!).
Images should only be replaced if the older version is of low quality or violates one of the above policies. Images should not be replaced due to file size alone. When an image is replaced, it should either use the exact same name of the previous image so that it is actually replaced, or the older image should be marked for deletion with the <nowiki>{{Template:SDelete‎}}</nowiki> with tag. Failure to follow this procedure will most likely result in deletion of your newly uploaded image. Images that violate one of the above policies may be altered (i.e. cropped or otherwise edited) or replaced in order to conform with the above policies. In this event the older non-conforming image will be subject to a speedy deletion. Do not replace an image in P99 Everquest Wiki that fits perfectly within this policy just to accredit yourself.
+

If you want to replace an image that is incorrectly named, do not tag it for deletion, but simply tag it for rename instead, using <nowiki>{{Template:File-move‎}}</nowiki>.

== Deleting Images ==
+
Fanart, user created drawings, etc should be given credit to their original authors with reference links whenever possible.
Placing a <nowiki>{{SDelete|Reason}}</nowiki> tag on an image stating your reasoning for deletion and the image that it was replaced with is the proper procedure for having an image deleted from P99 Everquest Wiki.

== Replacing Images ==
Linking to images not hosted in P99 Everquest Wiki is not allowed.

== Videos ==
+
Videos should be used to demonstrate in-game strategies, skills or abilities. The videos should not contain any video material that is not from P99 Everquest (added music and/or titles are acceptable but should not contain unsuitable or offensive material and/or lyrics). Video's should be uploaded using the [[Special:AddVideo]] page.

=== Personal Picture===
+
#P99 Everquest Wiki editors are allowed to upload a '''''single''''' personal picture for use on the wiki portion (not the social portion) of their User Page. <br>
+
##The filename must be named after your User Page not your Character and look like '''User-UserName.JPG'''.
+
:For example if [[User:Everquest-Example]] wanted to upload a picture for their User Page, the file name would have to appear as: '''User-Everquest-Example.JPG''' (or .jpg, .gif, .png) even though their character name was '''Iksarexample'''. If you want to upload a new picture, make sure to upload it over the original filename. <br>
+

+
'''Any personal picture uploaded that does not follow this format, or is not in use on the User's User Page will be subject to immediate deletion.'''
+

+
===Avatars===
+
Avatars must be uploaded directly to/from a player's user page (social portion not the wiki portion).  '''Any avatar uploaded in violation of this policy will be subject to immediate deletion.'''
+

+
As with all images, avatar images should not contain vulgar language or profanity or contain inappropriate words, inappropriate sexual references/imagery or other vulgar statements/imagery.  Violation of this rule '''''will''''' result in a temporary or permanent a ban from P99 Everquest Wiki.
