The "Starting Faction Standing" guide provides a comprehensive overview of the initial faction standings for characters in Everquest. This guide details how a character’s race, class, and chosen deity influence their relationships with the major factions across Norrath. Whether you're navigating the complex political landscape of city-states or simply trying to avoid hostile guards, understanding your starting faction standing is essential for every new adventurer. This resource allows players to plan their journey more effectively by offering insights into which factions will view them favorably—or with hostility—from the moment they enter the game.

Contributions are welcome! Please ensure that all entries reflect initial standings only. If illusions or other effects are used to alter race, please update the race accordingly to reflect the change.

Antonica

Freeport

Freeport, one of the most significant cities in Norrath, is divided into three districts—West Freeport, North Freeport, and East Freeport—and is home to several key factions, each with their own influence over different areas of the city. Navigating Freeport’s various factions is essential for characters, as these groups determine how NPCs will interact with you, from welcoming gestures to outright hostility.

Halas, the icy home of the Barbarians, is a rugged and isolated city located in the northwestern region of Everfrost. The residents of Halas are fiercely loyal to their own kind and hold deep cultural and religious ties to The Tribunal.

Neriak

Neriak, the capital of the Teir'Dal (Dark Elves), is a sprawling underground city divided into three distinct zones: Neriak Foreign Quarter, Neriak Commons, and Neriak Third Gate. Each zone represents a deeper and more secure part of the city, with increasing restrictions on who can enter. The city is home to various factions that govern its social and political life.

Oggok

Oggok, the stronghold of the Ogre race, is located in the southwestern swamps of Antonica. As a city controlled by the brutish Ogres, it harbors a handful of factions that reflect their militaristic and primal culture. The main factions in Oggok are largely concerned with maintaining order and strength within the Ogre community, while also keeping outsiders—particularly "good-aligned" races—at bay.

Qeynos

Qeynos, one of the major human cities in Everquest Project 1999, is home to a variety of factions that govern the daily life, politics, and security within its walls and surrounding territories. Characters entering Qeynos will encounter a number of prominent factions that determine their ability to safely move through the city and interact with its inhabitants.

Rivervale

Rivervale, the quaint home of the Halflings, is a small but vibrant community nestled in the Misty Thicket. Despite its size, the town boasts a variety of factions that govern the social, political, and religious life of its inhabitants.

Faydark

Ak'Anon

Ak'Anon, the subterranean city of Gnomes, is home to various factions that represent the diverse interests and political groups of the city. These factions include mechanical innovators, religious sects, and law enforcers, all of which shape the internal workings of Ak'Anon.

Felwithe and Kelethin, both homes to the high elves and wood elves respectively, are aligned with good-aligned factions such as the Clerics of Tunare, Soldiers of Tunare, and Emerald Warriors. Characters with strong ties to nature or good deities, like Tunare, will generally be welcomed in these cities. However, those aligned with evil deities or from opposing races, such as dark elves or trolls, will face hostility from the guards and other citizens who defend these elven strongholds. Note: These factions are unique as they are shared among the High and Wood Elves.
