WinEQDB is a Windows application that reads files created by the /note and /outputfile commands as well as your logs to create an out-of-game reference to all of your characters. (It's essentially a more feature-rich version of my EQHTML parser.)

The WinEQDB Character Detail window.
The WinEQDB Spells and Missing Spells tab.
The WinEQDB Character Skills tab.
The WinEQDB Hotkeys and Abilities tab.
The WinEQDB Inventory Search window.
The WinEQDB GINA Triggers for Missing Spells window.
What it Does
WinEQDB reads the inventory and spellbook outputfiles to pull together your complete equipped/bagged/banked inventory, your entire spellbook, and if you're a caster, a list of spells you are missing. It also reads your log file to find out where you are bound and where you last parked your character. Finally, it reads the file created by the /note command, and even lets you edit that file while out-of-game. (Notes are shared among all of your characters.)
With all of that data, you can:
- Search all of your characters' inventories (including banked items) at once
- See a list of your character's missing spells
- Find missing spells for one character in the inventories/banks of your other characters
- Generate GINA triggers to watch for folks selling your missing spells
- View and edit the in-game Notes file
- Keep track of your various accounts, so you know which account each character is on, and can look up account information if you forget it
- Generate a portable HTML file with your character's information
- Copy your INI file and UI file content from one character to another to get that new alt up and running fast
How to Set it Up
- Make make sure you have Log=TRUE set in the [Defaults] section of your eqclient.ini file (found in the Everquest game folder).
-
Within the game itself (for each of your characters), set up an Output hotkey and get in the habit of clicking it before you camp. It should look something like this (substituting "charactername" for your character's name):
/outputfile inventory charactername_inventory.tab
/outputfile spellbook charactername_spellbook.tab
/charinfo
Note: If you already have a hotkey set up for outputfiles, you may just need to edit it to change from .txt to .tab.)
-
After creating the hotkey, click it to generate your first outputfiles.
-
Download the zip file and extract it into a folder on your computer. Within, you'll find an installer called SQLLOCALDB.MSI, which you should install first. Afterwards, copy the WinEQDB folder to C:\ so that the program is in C:\WinEQDB. (It won't run correctly anywhere else right now, but in a future version I'll try to make it more flexible.)
- Run WinEQDB.EXE from the folder to launch the program, and then go to File; Settings to identify key folders and then to add your characters. View the Help file for more instructions.
Installation Troubleshooting
If you get database errors when you first run the program, note the following:
- Make sure you ran SQLLOCALDB.MSI before trying to run the program.
- Check to see whether a folder exists called C:\WinEQDB\Data - If not, create it (and follow the next step)
- Check to see whether there's a file inside C:\WinEQDB\Data called EQDB.mdf. If not, copy EQDB.md_ from C:\WinEQDB into the data folder and rename it to EQDB.mdf
Then try running the program again.
Dealing with Updates
The current version of WinEQDB is 7.11. (You can find out what version you're using by checking Help; About WinEQDB.)
- You can get the latest version at any time by clicking the download link. Open the Zip file and overwrite your existing C:\WinEQDB folder with the one in the zip.
- You don't have to install SQLLOCALDB.MSI when upgrading to a new version; you only need to install it the first time you set up WinEQDB.
- You no longer have to worry about overwriting your database file; newer versions will check your database version and update it if necessary, and will create one if it doesn't exist, but will not overwrite one if it does exist.
- Version 5.53 and later will let you know if you're not on the latest version.
Contacting Me
I mean, don't, if it's just for help setting it up or to tell me you don't like this tool. I'm not going to do tech support for this - if you need help getting it set up, ask one of your grandkids or something. But if you feel like saying "hey, I tried that thing you made and kind of like it a little bit", you can find me in game on Blue on Kobayashii of <Castle> (or any of the alts listed on that Magelo_Blue page), on Discord as kobayashiimaruu, or in the Facebook Everquest P99 group as LenPal.

- Version 5.61 - Updated the Help file for changes from Version 5.60.
- Version 5.60 - Added a field to the Export; P99 Magelo window to enter your character's P99 Magelo URL, and buttons to save the URL, open it in your browser, and open it in Edit mode. Added a new report called Discord-Formatted Character List that lists all non-mule characters showing name, surname (if present), level, race, class, and Magelo URL (if present) using Discord text markup so that you can easily and attractively list your characters in a Discord post.

- Version 5.40 - Items within the Inventory Search window results are now clickable, opening that item's page on the P99 wiki in your browser. Additionally, holding the mouse pointer over any item name on the Inventory Search window or the Character window will pop up details about that item, if available. Finally, most buttons and other screen elements now have pop-up tool tip text, summarizing the function of that screen element.
- Version 5.30 - Added the ability to filter inventory searches by slot, and to filter by class/race/deity and to exclude NO DROP/NO TRADE items. This required a big database import (all the items in the P99 wiki), so the first time you run the program after upgrading, you'll have to wait a minute or two while the item data is imported. (This only happens once.)
- Version 5.21 - Subtle aesthetic change to window border styles.

- Version 5.10 - Added checkbox on Settings window to Skip Spells and Skills for Mules When Loading Character or Running "Update All Characters" to improve load times. This can be helpful when questing the Veeshan Peak key or the Monk epic, when you have multiple items with the same name and need to know which is which.
- Version 4.40 - Added better support for Green and Red servers. (Select your character's server within the Character window. New characters added will have their server selected by default.) Added 'Friends and Ignore' tab to the Character window, with the ability to import the lists from the game and add notes (such as why you friended or ignored them, etc.)
- Version 4.30 - Added tiny buttons next to the Level and XP fields on the Character window that allow you to increment the values of those fields by one (per click). The Level field will increment when you increment the XP field from 99 (and the XP field will then reset to 0). Also fixed an issue that was causing WinEQDB to lock the log files, interfering with programs like GINA, nParse, etc.
- Version 4.20 - Added Tools; Check for Missing Skills to the Character window menu, and a setting to always check for missing skills when loading a character. (That option makes the Character window load really slowly though, so it's recommended to use the menu option as needed instead.)

When that checkbox is marked, the list will only show the spells currently available to the character but not in the character's spellbook. When that checkbox is unmarked, it will show all spells of the character's class not in the character's spellbook, regardless of spell level. The Only Show Missing Spells Up to Current Level setting is persistent among all characters.

- Version 2.30 - Added a button called "Scan Log for Skillups" to the Skills window that updates your skill levels if it finds a skillup message that is higher than your currently logged skill.
- Version 2.20 - Added the ability to enter and save your various skill levels, and to quickly view all of your characters' tradeskill levels at once.
- Version 2.12 - Made the database verification process more robust and reliable for folks upgrading from previous versions.

Added fields for PP, GP, SP, and CP to the Character Detail window, and a "Currency" display on the Search Full Inventory window.

- Version 1.4 - Added an account reference to the main form, to help you remember which account each of your characters is on. Added buttons to the Inventory Search window that populate the Item box with common useful searches. Fixed an issue in which empty fields were showing the previous character's values when using the "Build From Character Info and Notes" function of the In-Game Notes File window.
- Version 1.3 - Added the ability to search for multiple items within the same search (such as for any Velious quest armor drops your characters may have tucked away in their banks). Fixed an issue where the drop lists and grid views on the Character Detail window were doubling up each time you imported inventory, spells, or locations.
