'''Note:''' The following information about the South Ro AC is current as of 3/19/2017, following the changes in [[https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135889&highlight=patch+notes p99's 1/18/2014 patch.]]

In South Ro, the Ancient Cyclops has a unique spawn time and location mechanic based on classic Everquest. The [[https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1202682&postcount=10 location is randomized]], and [[https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135889&highlight=patch+notes spawns only in the desert area.]]
+

+
The AC has a single placeholder cycle, which may be [[Sandgiant Husam]], [[a sand giant]], [[desert madman]], barbarian male [[dervish cutthroat]], or [[a mummy]]. Out of all of these, the AC has a 10% chance of spawning in any spawn event. The AC or his PH will only spawn at night (9PM to 7AM in SRo) and has a 30.6 minute respawn timer. This classic placeholder cycle was [[http://web.archive.org/web/20090208200047/http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts/list.m?&topic_id=143508 revealed by EQ Dev Prathun]] in 2008 and [[https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2404804&postcount=57 confirmed by Nilbog in 11/18/2016.]]
+

+
Also present in SRo is a despawn/respawn mechanic which removes daytime spawns and replaces them with nighttime spawns at 9PM game time (similar to Kithicor forest). AC's PH cycle is one of these spawns. This means that the AC or his PH will spawn every EQ day at 9PM.
+

+
=== Strategy ===
+

+
Given the above information, trackers and groups with trackers have a natural advantage to quickly locate and engage the AC. Druids also have the advantage to teleport into AC just before 9PM game time and get a chance to claim an AC. Other classes still have some chance to be in the right spot at 9PM to grab AC, but won't be able to locate or confirm if the AC spawned when there is heavy competition.

'''Note:''' Though it worked previously, the /tar # macro no longer works on Project 1999 to confirm a placeholder, [[https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1203896&postcount=26 as signaled by Nilbog before the 1/18/14 patch in 11/29/2013.]]

*There are 2 cyclops that spawn on that island. 1 spawns and wanders on the side of the island closest to Seafury Island, while the other spawns and wanders on the side closest to Sister Island. The cyclops that spawns and wanders on the side closest to Sister Island is the PH for the AC.
+

+
It is also thought that any cyclops can be a placeholder for AC, some have confirmed this is true on p99 also.  [http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123033]

+
*As of August 22, 2015, on Red99, there are two spawns. One wandering cyclops, and one stationary. The wandering cyclops is always a cyclops, and is on a longer respawn timer. The stationary spawn is the PH for the ancient cyclops, and can be any of the mobs listed above.
