A player character (PC) is the character which a player controls and serves as his avatar. A player is a real-life human (like you or me) which probably still plays EverQuest because they are unemployed, drunk, or both.

Some PCs are the avatars of GMs.

On Project 1999, players are restricted to controlling a single PC. Controlling more than one PC (through any means) is considered multi-boxing, which can result in disciplinary action.
