Corpse
A player corpse can be dragged with the /corpse command. This will summon the corpse a short distance to the player's location. A player may consent other players to drag their corpses with /consent <name>. Necromancers, Shadow Knights, Bards and the Chipped Bone Rod may be used to locate lost corpses. Necromancers and Shadow Knights may cast a spell to summon a difficult-to-retrieve corpse over long distances within a zone. Extremely lost corpses due to bugs or unfair behavior may also be summoned by GMs.
Looting corpses
Player corpses may only be looted by that player on P99, regardless of use of /consent.
NPC corpses can only be looted by the player or group that killed the NPC, determined by the same proportional damage taken rules used for awarding credit for experience. After five minutes, the corpse becomes publicly lootable by anyone. This availability does NOT imply a player can circumvent loot ninja rules in the Play nice policy. Do not ever loot a corpse that doesn't belong to you unless you are certain you have permission to do so. It's probably a bad idea to peek at a corpse's contents as well, to prevent misunderstandings.
Corpses of NPCs subject to the /list system will only be lootable by the person designated by that system.
Corpse Decay Time
A player corpse resulting from a normal death will decay exactly 7 days after it was created, regardless of the player's level and if he or she is online or offline during that time.
A normal player corpse can be resurrected only within the first 3 hours after death. This timer only ticks if the player (or any player on that same account) is online or on the character select screen of the corresponding account and server.
A player corpse resulting from a duel can only be resurrected within the first 8 minutes (or 7?) after death.
A normal NPC corpse with items on it will decay after seven minutes.
The corpse of an NPC level 55 or higher will not decay until 30 minutes after death.
An empty NPC corpse with no items or coin will decay within 30 seconds. Empty player corpses usually decay instantly when the loot window is closed, but may remain if the player disconnects or reloads their ui (/loads).
Corpse Dragging Aggro
This is a Velious mechanic only.
- Faction of corpse's player is relevant. Dragging corpses in zones where this rule exists will generate aggro.
- Dragging your own corpse IS safe.
- Dragging someone else's corpse out of range of NPCs doesn't generate aggro. They must see you perform the dragging action in their aggro radius.
- Dragging someone else's corpse within range while invisible doesn't generate aggro unless the NPC can see through invisibility.
