The Oceanlord

Followers of Prexus believe true power lies in the vast depths of Norrath's oceans. They believe that eons ago, life first formed in the murky depths and that one day the oceans shall rise again to embrace the faithful and consume those who are unworthy. The Oceanlord's servants tend to live and work near, on, or beneath large bodies of water. They seek to spread the word of Prexus to all who will hear and defend the oceans and seas of Norrath against any who would cause them harm. Many sailors and fishermen are followers of Prexus.

Followers of Prexus

Phinigel Autropos and the inhabitants of Kedge Keep are aquatic creatures created by Prexus, remnants of an ancient civilization who still maintain a temple to him, otherwise keeping to themselves.

The Deepwater Knights of Erudin, on the relatively small island continent of Odus, represent most of his followers on land. They are more outgoing than the Kedge, and make converts from time to time.

Prexus is also known to be followed by a few scattered Half-Elf Warriors, and, like most of the gods, an odd Bard or two.

The Will of Prexus

Prexus is generally a good aligned deity, and his followers the Deepwater Knights are aligned with the other elements in Erudin and mainly opposed to the evil Heretics of Paineel.

In general, Prexus seems to take a similar attitude towards the oceans and the things in them as Tunare, Karana, and the other good aligned, nature inclined gods take towards the other parts of Norrath, encouraging the destruction of diseased and harmful creatures and mostly overlooking the harvesting of everything else. Prexus does not seem to mind the collecting of undersea resources such as the Odus Pearls that are lying on the seafloor, even when they are guarded by sharks, nor do the Deepwater Knights give negative faction hits for killing any aquatic creatures (unlike the inhabitants of Kedge Keep, who do not approve of those who kill the inhabitants of the Keep). In some cases, such as with diseased sharks, they approve of it. He seems to have no objection to the use of shark meat in Shark fillet. However, somewhat strangely, the Fisherman Convert quest indicates that Prexus does not approve of fishing. The Deepwater Knights use renunciation of fishing as a sign of conversion to the ways of Prexus, and Bait Masterson seems to agree that the nature of Prexus is not compatible with fishing and agrees to give it up in order to return to the ways of Prexus, while Marlin Bizmite rejects Prexus in order to continue fishing.

Despite this disapproval of fishing, the Deepwater Knights do not give any indication that they approve of killing fishermen, even fishermen that make no claim to follow Prexus and have nothing good to say about him or his followers. Killing Aglthin Dasmore and turning his fishing pole in to the Heretics of Paineel lowers faction with the Deepwater Knights just like many other Heretic quests do, despite the fact that he is a fisherman on the Heretic faction, and there is no indication that he follows Prexus. There are no faction hits just for killing him, and although the Heretics want him dead because they say he is an apostate and no longer follows the ways of Cazic-Thule, there is no indication that he follows the ways of Prexus either, unless you count the fact that he is fishing as being pro-Prexus. Either way, it would seem to indicate that Prexus, or at least the Deepwater Knights, are more upset about the activities of the Heretics than they are about fishing. Killing other fisherman or fisher-things does not appear to give faction hits with the Deepwater Knights one way or the other.
