Link titleThis Rogue-only skill can inflict enormous damage with a piercing weapon equipped in the main hand. To succeed, the target must have its back to you (or side, provided you are within the 180 degrees behind the mob), otherwise the backstab attempt will try to hit as a regular attack.

Higher skill will increase the damage done by a successful strike, but the final amount is also affected by your backstabbing weapon's damage. The higher the damage the higher the backstab potential. Because of this, it is always a good idea for a Rogue to have the highest possible damage dagger in their primary slot.

Backstab has a cooldown of around 10 seconds, without haste.

For Barbarians, Backstab shares a cooldown with Slam.

See Game Mechanics article for the Math behind Backstab damage.
