Description

Clerics are a class of healers that have been ordained holy by their respective god or goddess. They have the utmost discipline and have the widest variety of spells to heal and buff their group, along with a few direct damage and utility spells.

Strengths

The Clerics main strength and ability comes from their massive heals. The most powerful of these is the amazing Complete Heal spell. This spell can heal all damage from all but the most robust of tanks. They also have series of heal over time spells, mainly used to heal party members or to keep the tank alive during the long casting time required to cast Complete heal.

Clerics also have two lines of direct damage spells. The first is a normal low damage, high mana cost series of smiting spells, and are for soloing and dire situations. However, their Undead DD spells have high damage, a low mana cost and a short cast time. These spells can successfully destroy undead creatures in the time of a few casts. They also have a spell to Root enemies, that is to adhere them to the ground.

Their buff spells are among the most powerful in the game and are able to generate money for the Cleric. Many Clerics charge platinum or take donations in exchange for casting some of their powerful health buffs on other players.

Roles

Clerics are necessary in almost every group. Sometimes in dire situations, lesser healers can be substituted, but no group will ever turn down a Cleric to do their healing. Their buffs and amazing heals are the best available and a good Cleric almost guarantees the success of a group.

Clerics are also necessary for any kind of raids, generally several Clerics. The basic strategy is to heal in a rotation so that none of the clerics deplete their mana supply too fast, and the tank taking massive amounts of damage is kept alive. In raids, enemies and bosses typically deal damage that would instantly kill any player other than tanks, and tanks can only survive long enough to obtain the much needed heals from the Clerics. Secondary healers like Druids and Shamans are often assigned to heal for the rest of the players in the raid, while Clerics focus specifically on the tank.
