I see you are a noble creature, one who would treat another creature of nobility with respect.......... 'Oglards eyes suddenly begin to shine with a magical, golden, light. Oglard 's eyes slowly begin to lose the golden light that flared earlier. He then studies you carefully before saying 'There are many Dragons on this world that do not share our beliefs. If you have done battle with dragons and have lived, then you may be able to help us.

Walkthrough
You say, 'how may i help you?'
+
Assumptions:
 +
*You're 60th Level
 +
*You have a group or raid guild
 +
*You're familiar with all the zones in question
 +
*You have some money to spend on Tradeskills and miscellaneous trades.  You'll need approximately 15kpp~ to do this all. (7kpp~ depending on how far you go for blacksmithing/if farming materials/class/cha/wis/int, 7kpp~ for Gems if buying, 1kpp for turn in)

: Oglard says 'When a Dragon dies, his spirit leaves his corporeal body and joins Veeshan among the stars. It is our greatest desire, to be without desire, at the time of our death. Even in preperation for battle, we accept that we may die and strive to be empty of desire so that our spirits do not cling to this world when our end has come. For some, however, this is not the case
+
START - SKYSHRINE/THURGADIN
You say, 'who are the ones that this is not the case?'
+
This quest can be done in really any order, however, for simplicity sake, we'll start in Thurgadin.  You can, if you would prefer start at Oglard in Skyshrine, but he only directs you to Thurgadin, anyway, so...

: Oglard says 'When a Dragon dies, and his heart is filled with desire, his spirit will remain here in the filth of this world. The greatest torment is to transcend one's body, and still be confined to this world. Like being trapped within a cell with a single locked door, having the key to unlock it and escape, yet having no hands to use the key. This has befallen one of our comrades.
+
Go to Thurgadin and locate Loremaster Sarl in the Statue Room directly across from the Icewell Zone Line.

You say, 'what comrade has this befallen?'
+
You say, 'Can you tell me the name of a slain dragon'

: Oglard says 'And therein lies our plight. Our fellow Dragon now suffers eternally in unlife, between worlds. We hear his pained howls when we sleep, unable to aid our fallen comrade. He turned his back on us centuries ago, and joined the Ring of Scale. In response to this we erased his name and bloodline, along with the others who left, from our memories and books. He is still Dragon though, and does not deserve the fate he's been dealt. Without his name, we are helpless.
+
:Loremaster Sarl says 'The name of Dragon you say? One that was slain? Hmmm, sounds interesting. Like I said, we've had little contact with Dragons, but I vaguely recall an ancient legend about a slain dragon and one of our people meeting. Follow me to the Library and we'll talk along the way.

You say, 'what is his name?'
+
Once he starts walking, you can say "Black" and he will immediately spawn in the library ready for the next segment of the quest.  Run there and hand him 50pp to receive Worn Coldain Tome.

: Oglard says 'Unfortunately our libraries have no record of him. We know of his death from 2 sources only. Our Lord Yelinak was the first to hear his tormented howling. Then the rest of us slowly began to hear him as well. A chosen few left our home to find his corpse if possible. We were surprised to find he had died here on this continent. Apparently he had returned to us, which pains us even more.
+
Perfect!  Reading the book elludes to someone named Burdael having seen a dying dragon. Also, Sarl mentions something about this being a rescued book from their old home and speak of Froststone. The only other place in Velious with Dwarves is the Crystal Caverns, so that's the next place we go!

You say, 'where has he returned?'
+
Crystal Caverns
: Oglard says 'His body was found in the Eastern Wastes, spears of Krom Zek make protruding from his side and chest.' The wurm pauses for a moment to sigh heavily. He continues, sorrow on his voice, 'We believe......we hope, one of the sentient races witnessed his murder. Chances are slim to nil. But perhaps one of those.....Caldoin? Or something? Found him and recorded his name. Will you investigate this for us Keyno ?'
+
Historian Baenek is located on the bottom floor in the Dwarve outpost in Crystal Caverns. Give him the Worn Coldain Tome.
 +
*Your faction standing with CitizensofFroststone got better. (+10)
 +
Handing the book to him spawns the Ghost of Burdael at the rear of the of the Tentacle Terror area (you have approximately five minutes before he will despawn). He's a 50 SK who is slowable, rootable, and can be mezzed, so as long as you have one of those, you should be alright.  Do note, though, he's got a boatload of hps, so it may be a long fight.

You say, 'yes I will investigate this for you'
+
After you kill Burdael, loot Onyxbrand and head back to Oglard in Skyshrine.

: Oglard says 'We are greatful for your service to us. We know you have little interest in our affairs, yet you risk your life to aid us. Once you find his name, then perhaps we can find a way to release his restless spirit. If you do this, you will be rewarded an item of your choice from our hoard of treasure. Begin with.....whatever they call themselves. The Giants refer to them as iron pellets. Return to me proof of his name and he will be remembered.
+
Oglard hand-in requires Ally faction? He eats Onyxbrand with amiable, please update if you know what level is required but, to be safe, be Ally

PART II - THURGADIN A
+
Hand in Onyxbrand to Oglard. Oglard will scream and blab for a bit, but eventually he'll hand you a Dragon Crafted Urn and instruct you to fill it with the remains of Garzicor in Dragon Necropolis.  Great, a crypt.  Now's the time you should make a hotkey for "Remember, Garzicor".

Loremaster Sarl can be found In ThurgA at the Statue room across the way from the Icewell zone.
+
Dragon Necropolis
You say, 'Can you tell me the name of a slain dragon'
+
For this next part, it's highly recommended that you have a partner. Once you get to Dragon Necropolis, you'll want to have at least Invis/SoW and if possibly some AC/HP. First head to the large double doors (Number #2 on the map) set nearly in the floor with three-four spiders spread around it. There are many traps on the ramp and in the bones on the first landing. These traps are random in location and respawn, although unlike the bones above these will not always spawn a construct and you'll need to go into them anyway for the items to trigger. The door can also trapped (confirmed to be 7/18/22) so you could end up triggering/aggroing nearby mobs/traps. These traps will need to be triggered and moved or trained off (this is where the partner comes in to play). Once the construct/spiders/traps are trained off, go down to the first landing and you'll find the pile of bones. Spam your Garzicor hotkey (Remember, Garzicor) and run around in here. Eventually you'll get text scrolling. Once you see "I am sorry", look on the floor and you'll see a brown bag. It's actually two: Dragonwing Skin and Dragonbone Dust. These are TEMPORARY items, so recommend combining them in the urn right away. This is a No Fail combine and returns a Dragon Crafted Urn. Once looted have you and your kiter cap out or gate.

: Loremaster Sarl says 'The name of Dragon you say? One that was slain? Hmmm, sounds interesting. Like I said, we've had little contact with Dragons, but I vaguely recall an ancient legend about a slain dragon and one of our people meeting. Follow me to the Library and we'll talk along the way.
+
This spawn shares the same spawn as the Ghost Prensence. Triggering either one will result in a 1-hour respawn, regardless of which one you trigger.
 +

And so we start walking to the library.. he buffs everything he sees along the way...
+
Do NOT leave a construct (since they do NOT reset) at the zone in or out in the open.

: Loremaster Sarl says 'There are only a few myths we've recorded havin to do with Dragons, many less legends. There's a story of an ancestor of the Dain ridin a 'Wurm' into battle against Giants. A Wurm be a lesser form of a Dragon, not able to use magic or fly, but still just as mean. There's another story, more recent, about a pair a Coldain that rampaged through the countryside along side a magical sea turtle, undoing evil and saving this and that. Heheh, more likely a drunken wive's tale.
+
Skyshrine (Finished Naginata Blade)
: Loremaster Sarl says 'Ye may not know this, but we didn't always make our home here in Thurgadin. Centuries ago we lived deep down in the ground, close to Brell. That was our first home after we became stranded on this chunk of ice. We lived there peacefully for a while, until the Giant kin found us. They drove us out, though we didn't leave without a fight. This statue coming up here is of a hero that sacrificed his life in that battle to bring a great cavern down on the heads of many o those giants.
+
At this point, head back to Oglard and hand him the urn.(Kindly faction was NOT sufficient for this turn in)  He'll immediately hand it back and send you to Eldriaks Fe`Dhar. Hand Eldriaks the urn and he will hand you a book titled: "The blade" (instructions on how to form the Naginata Blade) and a Sanctified bone dust (this is two dusts).

: Loremaster Sarl says 'I brung up our old home o Froststone because we had many books and tablets that were lost when we were forced to flee. We had a long history during our peaceful time there, much of it is lost to us now. Still, we were able to save a few slim volumes. I'm thinkin we may find yer answer in o those old recordings. We'll see.........Ahhh, here we are. Remember to keep yer voice down, it is a library ye know.
+
:The book gives you instructions on how to fabricate the blade as well as the rest of the components to manufacture the full polearm. You'll need to get the following items in the following zones:
 +
*Bronzewood Staff off of Carpenter Grundo in Burning Woods
 +
*Chunk of Chronium Ore off of an Armor of Zek in Kael
 +
*Starmetal Ore off of a A Cliff Golem in The Overthere
 +
*Mandala sketch off of the table in the East wing of Howling Stones (see below)
 +
*Gray Colored Ice off of the ground in the middle of Frontier Mountains at loc (-260, -300)

: Loremaster Sarl says 'Ok, here we are. Let me see.' Sarl runs a finger along the book labels searching for a paticular volume...
+
Blacksmithing section
: Loremaster Sarl says 'Do ye know anythin about this dragon? Ye need his name right? Some o these older ones are organized in strange ways. I love me fore fathers, but they made some funny kinda rules. Do you know what color this dragon was?
+
Now, this is the part that typically trips folks up. You need Blacksmithing to NO LOWER THAN 210 and Pottery to NO LOWER THAN 122 to ensure the lowest possible chance of failure (always 5% min). Pottery's easy, just follow the guide, but Smithing can take a bit longer and involve some coin. You can attempt this at 200, but I strongly advise against it.

And since I do not know the color of the dragon.. I start to name dragon colors. Red, Green, Blue,
+
Once you're where you want to be in tradeskills, do the following:

You say, 'Black'
+

This will return x2. Next:

As soon as you say "Black" he will despawn and respawn in the library. So, if you know where the library is, simply ask him about the name of a slain dragon, and then say "Black." He will pop in the library. Just run over to him and hand him 50pp and he will give you the book.

This will return and . Next begins the most difficult part. This section Trivial is no less than 171. Proceed at your own peril.  The next part has an incremental material output (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Start with:
the story o Burdael. Ill lend ya the book, but it'll cost ya 50 platinum.

PART III - FROSTONE IN CRYSTAL CAVERNS
Gave the book to Historian Baenek in Frostone.
+
This will return Blade core-1st fold. Continue doing the combines like this:

: Historian Baenek says 'You found one of our lost tomes! A lost volume of the Book of Grudges, quite a find. Oh dear Brell! This evidence proves that the legend of Burdael is true! Thank you Metopious. And now I suppose you wish to meet his ghostly form. I have snesed him from time to time. I will call to him now. Go and wait for him in the lower halls. His spirit sometimes calls to me from where the fearsome Stalag Terrors lair. Be warry though, unlife may have twisted his mind beyond reason."

until you get a Blade core-5th fold. Once you have your core folded 5 times, you'll need to shape it with just the forging hammer:
* Your faction standing with Citizens Of Froststone got better.

He(Burdael) spawned in the back corner of the stalagterror area, blue to 60 weilding a dwarven axe and with SK pet.. spoke phrases in an unknown tongue, but when repeatedly hailed, replied with exactly the same text, meaning its not a normally randomly scrambled language. the two bracketed words were "Yiond" which triggered more gibberish, and "furysve" which he didnt respond to. despawned at about 5 mins. I'm excellent in Dwarven, Dragon and Elder Dragon fyi, likely its just rantings of a madman, but Yiond was mysteriously capitallized, likely thats our next lead.
+
:In Forge:
 +
1 x Forging Hammer - Bought
 +
1 x Blade core-5th fold - Foraged, Crafted, Quested

ok, so.. I waited an hour for the historian to respawn and killed the ghost, he dropped a sword, nothing special, but when ID'd..
+
to get . At this point you should have the these two items (barring fails) in your inventory:

IDs as : Remember, Garzicor.
+
*Portion of Starmetal
 +
*Remaining Bone dust

PART IV - SKYSHRINE
+
DO NOT be confused about this part.  There are two bone dust applications and each one leads to a half of the sword so if you fail the first ore/dust combine, you can still do the second part.  You'll have to reobtain the Sanctified bone dust to reattempt the first, though.

Give the axe, Onyxbrand, to Oglard in Skyshrine. MAKE SURE you have an open inventory slot.
+
Now, This is the long part. Do the following:

: Oglard examines the axe closely. The Wurm's eyes widen as he makes out the name of Garzicor and immediately raises his head to the ceiling, letting out a howl of emotional pain. Your bones shake with the screach, an image of a man in the midst of a rain of his own child's blood comes to mind, the agony is so great. Out of breath, Oglard drops his head and focuses his attention back to you, barely able to hold himself up. He places an urn before you and says, 'You must find his corpse. Find his burial site and summon Garzicor's spirit by speaking your remembrance of him. Speak to him and find out all you can. Return to me with 2 pieces of his corpse combined in that urn. Help us Castrinas , you MUST!'
+
:In Forge

+
* Your faction standing with Yelinak got better.

* Your faction standing with Kromzek got worse.

</div>

So, now I have an urn container, with 2 slots, guess we need to find where he died next.
+
:In Forge:

1 x Forging Hammer - Bought, Quested, Dropped, Returned on Failure, Returned on Success

PART V - DRAGON NECROPOLIS
+
and on success you should have .  At this point, it's the same process as above to get to .  At this point it's time to combine your and your

I may have found what we've been looking for... I was runnign around DN saying, "Remember, Garzicor" when I sorta got a response. The spot is at (+1523, +1109) right past the door to the paebla area, right under a giant dragon skull in the wall, with bones all around. This spot makes perfect sense where his body was brought to.
+
:In Forge:
 +
1 x Blade skin-10th fold - Crafted

1 x Smithing Chisel - Bought, Returned on Failure, Returned on Success

I went down there to those bones shortly after the entrance to the Paebala area and said "Remember, Garzicor" a few times. Nothing seemed to happen, then suddenly a dialog started. It was a couple words at a time that went something like this:
+
This will return . Once you have your raw blade, you'll need to shape it with just the forging hammer.

Yes... he really rambled like that. Short one liners. Mentioned Veeshan once or twice, Kromzek once, spilling blood once, home and revenge a lot. Each line had a couple second delay afterwards before the next. Then it just stopped.
+
This will return . Congratulations!!!! There's still a bit more to go, but we're in the home stretch!

As soon as the words "I am sorry" appear, 2 bags spawn on the ground, one dragon skin, and one dragon bone powder of some sort. Place them in the urn and combine them. Note it is recommended you do this with the urn, as the two pieces are TEMPORARY.

Pottery Section
PART VI - SKYSHRINE
+
In order to get your you'll need to do some pottery.  You need Pottery to 128 in order to trivial this part.  No sweat, though, since most of what you need to do it is located in Thurgadin.
 +

 +
Once you have Pottery to 128 (or w/e you feel comfortable risking), do the following combine at the pottery wheel:

Give the combined urn to Oglard. He tells you to go give the urn to Eldriaks Fe'dhar. Note the urn you get back is NOT the same one as you gave to him.
+
:In Pottery Wheel:
 +
1 x Small Block of Clay - Crafted, Bought, Dropped
 +
1 x Water Flask - Foraged, Crafted, Summoned, Bought, Quested, Dropped

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'Hmm? What's this? Oh! You are the High Elf who has been helping us with the nameless one. Well, not so nameless anymore. A part of Garzicor clings to this world, eager to wreak vengeance upon the giants who murdered him. We've decided a weapon must be constructed, and the restless spirit of Garzicor must be bound to it. You must be the one to construct this weapon. This dust must be used in the forging of the weapon's blade. Are you a master smith Torlan?
+
Then (Trivial < 122),

You say, 'no, I am not a master smith'
+
:In Pottery Wheel:
 +
1 x mixture - Crafted
 +
1 x Complete shaped blade - Crafted

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'You must be the one to forge the weapon, Torlan . Go and learn the art of the smith. Return only when you are a master and tell me you are ready. I will then tell you what must be done.
+
Ok, so we have the clay on our blade, but the egde still needs to be hardened and quenched. To do this part, you need the you collected earlier. (If you didn't, this may be a good time to just read below and collect the rest). To wrap up this part:

You say, 'yes, I am a master smith'
+
:In Forge: (Trivial somewhere between 199-200) success at 198 skill and it was not trivial ---> 1/28/2023, did combine at 200 skill, success "You can no longer advance your skill from making this item".
 +
1 x Clay coated blade - Crafted
 +
1 x Gray Colored Ice - Ground Spawn

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'Good. The weapon is extremely complicated to construct, your skills will be tested perhaps beyond your abilities. The weapon is known as a Naginata. You need not be proficient in its use to build it. The Naginata is constructed of four major parts. The shaft, the blade, the fittings, and the hilt, or tsuba. No ordinary materials can hope to bind the dragons spirit. Special materials must be found.

spirit's presence, yet flexible enough to be wielded properly. Of the few dragons that returned to us from the Ring of Scale, some brough back knowledge of a type of wood that may be sufficient. It is known as bronzewood. One can find it amidst one of the forests on the continent of Kunark. I am sure it is being used by one of the sentient races there.
+

You say, 'how do I make the fittings'
+
In the Northwestern section of Burning Woods, there's a large crater with a spaceship-style hut on stilts.  This is the giant fort.  Inside the giant fort up the ramp are a series of small huts but 1 big one. This big hut is what you want. There are two static spawns in there and each one has a chance to spawn Carpenter Grundo 6:40 respawn. This may take a while, but the giants aren't super hard, so keep at it and he'll show up.

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'The fittings are the most important part. The spirit itself will be held there partially. We'll discuss this later, when you have all the other pieces in your possesion.
+
Once Carpenter Grundo pops, kill him and loot your . This parts odd since we're making a polearm.

+
The next part is tricky. You'll need your , and if you don't have one yet, now's the time to do it. You'll also need a ready to click.  You can go in with a group and fight your way to it, but the easier way to do it is get a Dead Man Floating, Invisibility and Invisibility versus Undead (this is commonly called "Double Invis" for those than can do it).
forged seperately of another ore created to be the bane of the dragon. It is called chronium and was developed by the Kromzek with the aid of their blood-thirsty @#%$. You must forge the ore into a plate and then find a craftsman with the skill to carve a detailed mandala of draconic binding into it. This mandala will hold arcane power and restrain the spirit from destroying the weapon.
+

You say, 'what chronium'

Once inside and all buffed up, go up the North or South stairs to the landing and then turn to the East Wing. From here run onto the east wing landing (most of the east stairs are fake and you will fall through) be ready to turn back to the center and try again if you don't make it the first time. Changing your frame rate to 100 here 'might' help the levitate stays at mostly the same height (go in to Options under the 'Display' tab and push the slider to 100 if it's lower.

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'Chronium is a sacred ore used only by the higher ranked priests

Another trick is to sit and alt-tab to discord (or something else to where you can still see you character) when your floating animation reaches its lowest point then tab back in when your animation is at its highest. Rinse/repeat until you can't go any higher.
of Rallos Zek. You may be able to find some in the city of the Kromzek, Kael Drakkel. Perhaps in one of their temples. Forging it into a plate is simple. Heat the ore in a forge and shape it with a Forging Hammer, then temper it with a Flask of Water.
+

You say, 'how do I make the blade'
+
From here, you need to head to the section on the map that looks like a horizonal 'H'. The is located on the table in the top left alcove in the 'H' (loc +140,-410 or so). Once you pick it up, click your and GTFO.

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'The blade will be the most difficult piece for you to build. First of all, no mundane ore will do. Long ago, Veeshan sent a gift to us in the form of a meteor. This meteor holds the ore you must build the blade with. Once you have the ore, follow the instructions in this book and forge the blade. Don't forget, when melting the ore, use the bone dust I gave you.
+
Done.

You say, 'what a craftsman'
+
Kael (Chunk of Chronium Ore - Finished Tsuba)
 +
This is undisputedly the most difficult part as you'll need a raid or large group to pull from the Arena/Temple area.  The best time, if you can, is to wait for a Statue or Vindi pop and ask the raid/group to pull an armor after the target's dead.

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'Since the mandala is so detailed, only a craftsman trained specifically in these matters will do. I'm sure you're a fine smith but an adventurer like yourself wouldn't have time to fully master the skill needed to create the tsuba. Find one whose entire life is the art of creating these types of weapons. The craftsman will need a sketch of the mandala as well as the plate of chronium.
+
Alternatively, if you have a bold monk and a raid force, the Armor of Zeks can be split-pulled. This requires Vindi being down, killing all of the mobs around and including Kallis, and all mobs at the opposite side of arena as your raid. Have the monk create a corpse on a mob (3-hour rez timer) and pull the corpse all the way against the ice wall where Vindi roams. The monk should leave a small item on corpse and have them flop-run back to the Armor of Zeks. The monk SHOULD be 54+ so they can void dance if the fail FD. Once back at the Armor of Zeks, perform a rez-box pull. Have a cleric rez your ice wall corpse, throw a projectile at the Armor, and click YES on the rez while the projectile is in the air. Allow the train to gain some ground until you see it leave the temple, and then run it to the side opposite of your raid force. Use standard splitting technique and the Armor is all yours. If both sides of arena are camped, you can clear out the Protector of Zeks and gladiators, and run the train down into the actual PvP arena.

- Krixis

You say, 'what mandala'
+
However you do it, you'll need to kill an Armor of Zek and loot the .  Once you're done in Kael, grab your and head to a Forge.  Do this combine:

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'The type of mandala we need is a diagram laced with powerful arcane enchantment. You'll need to find a sketch of the correct mandala for the craftsman to go by as he carves it into the chronium plate. There is one place you may be able to find a sketch of a mandala powerful enough to bind Garzicor.
+
:In Forge:
 +
1 x Chunk of Chronium Ore - Dropped
 +
1 x Forging Hammer - Bought, Quested, Dropped, Returned on Failure, NOT Returned on Success
 +
1 x Water Flask - Foraged, Crafted, Summoned, Bought, Quested, Dropped

You say, 'where is the place?'
+
This should yield 1x .

: Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'The ones that returned to us from the Ring of Scale told us of the Sarnak. These are hybrids of dragons and a sentient lizard race known as the Iksar. Whoever created them had to bind a dragon to his will or restrain it at some point. Perhaps this being or one of his brood still has a recording of the mandala. Once you have the Tsuba, Blade, and Shaft, return here and show them to me. I will then explain what must be done next.
+
Keep this and the on you and head to Paineel.

BOOK INSTRUCTIONS
+
Paineel/The Warrens
 +
This part is either going to require factioning in the Warrens until amiably faction (which has its own benefits); starting your own level 1 Evil Erudite; or trusting someone else with the appropriate faction to handle 1000pp. However you do it (the toolkit is tradeable), you need to go to #9 on the map of Paineel and talk to Taralani Rahnta.  Simply 'Hail' him to confirm that you can do the turn in (sneak works), then hand him 1000pp and he'll return to you a .  If you are transferring this to another character: as a reminder, characters who are amiably in Paineel (which includes any freshly-created character) can say "need" to the guards by the elevator, to get a key to access Toxxulia Forrest to transfer the Tool Kit. (If you choose to do the turn-in yourself at a lower faction, such as by sneaking, you will need someone to operate the elevator for you.)

Only a master smith may make the blade.
+
Once you have your , take that, your and your to The Warrens.  Nothing in here sees invis; invis down to the Prison area (take a right coming from Paineel, then the first door on the left). This is marked as #10 on The Warrens map. Hail Koajin.

Once the ore is found, it must be broken into 2 portions with a forging hammer and a smithing chisel.
+
You say, 'Hail, Koajin'

First you must form the core of the blade. Take one portion of the starmetal and apply the bone dust in the forge. Then, with a hammer and chisel, fold the block of ore. You must repeat this 5 times to homogenize the steel. After the 5th folk, take the hammer to the ore and shape the core into a curved blade.
+
Koajin slowly looks up at you, his eyes glazed in exhaustion. Obviously the kobolds have worked him near to the point of death. You notice he is strong and his paws are scarred here and there. He must be some sort of craftsman. After gazing at you a few moments he realizes you are not a kobold and says, 'Hurry and leave this place, High Elf. Or you'll end up sharing this cell with us and wishing death upon yourself.'

Now for the skin of the blade. Apply the remaining bone dust to the last portion of starmetal. Fold this block of ore, as with the core, 10 times with the hammer and chisel. This will be the most difficult and time consuming steps. After the 10th fold block, apply the skin to the core with the hammer [and chisel]. The last step in the forging process is taking the whole blade and shaping it into a suitable naginata blade [by applying the hammer to the raw blade].
+
You say, 'I need your help'

The last major step is the tempering of the blade. This includes a mixture of clay and water for the differential tempering process. Combine a small block of clay with a flask of water at the potter's wheel. Then take the clay and apply it to the blade at the wheel as well, leaving the edge of it exposed. Allow it to dry. The last step is to heat the  clay covered blade in the forge, and then plunge it into a fluid to temper. In this case, a special fluid must be found. In the mountains of Kunark one can find a very caustic type of mist that freezes and collects at high altitudes. Find a portion of this ice and use it for the tempering. Good luck.
+
Koajin says, 'You need my help to build one? I can help you, but I'll need my tools first. Then maybe when I have my tools I can break out of this rusty cage and run. My tools were taken when they first captured me. They used to force me to use them, show them our craft. I showed them what I could, fearing death, but I haven't seen them since. If you can find them, bring them here along with a suitable plate of metal and a sketch of the tsuba's design. Then I'll see what I can do.'

Be sure you put the forging hammer to the 'raw blade' one final time. Be careful though, this step was NOT TRIVIAL at 180. Then you can apply the clay.
+
Everyone should get this dialogue.  Give him the Mandala sketch, the Kejekan Tool Kit and the Chronium Plate and he'll return to you (MQed successfully by Chickander of Ex Astra).

For the clay part, I suggest getting your pottery up to 128, which is easily done in the better part of two hours in NFP. Just make unfired small bowls, mixing bowls, etc until you get to 128. You need not fire them to increase your skill.
+
WOOT!!!!  Grats on ya!

PART VII - GATHERING COMPONENTS
+
Now, it's time to get the .

Bronzewood: Found on a rare spawn giant, Carpenter Grundo, who spawns in the giant fort in BW. Simply kill the two mobs in the only hut where two giants spawn, and Carpenter Grundo will eventually pop. He does not hold the staff, but you loot it off his corpse.
+
Skyshrine (Assembled Naginata & Vial of Kromzek blood)
 +
At this point, you should have three items on you: + + . If they're in the bank, don't worry, Skyshrine has one, but you'll have to refer to the maps since it's hidden near the Cobalt Scar fire pot.

Starmetal (meterorite ore): Found on Cliff golems in Overthere. Not too difficult, they require one group. Be sure you have a druid to kite around the Dragoons if they add.
+
Once you get all these items, head to Eldriaks Fe`Dhar and hand him all three items. He will do the following:

Chronium ore: Found on Armor of Zek in kael, next to the Vindicator.
+
Eldriaks Fe`Dhar takes the staff, blade, and tsuba and looks them over. He says, 'Excellent craftsmanship. These will make a fine weapon. But one part remains to join all the pieces together. That is the fitings.' The Wyvern then hands you the items back along with a vial of blood and says, 'This vial of blood will allow you to awaken Garzicor's spirit.'

Mist that freezes: Found in Frontier mountains, at -260, -297 on the top of a mountain, called gray colored ice.
+
You should receive:
 +
* Assembled Naginata
 +
* Vial of Kromzek blood

Mandala of Draconic Binding: Found in the east wing in the room with four alcoves, one farther in to the left on the coffin.
+
At this point, it's raid only.  If you don't have a raid, get one as there is really no other way to kill the Garzicor's Wraith

Forging the chromium ore into a plate is simple. Heat the ore in a forge and shape it with a Forging Hammer, then temper it with a Flask of Water. The chronium plate combine was trivial at 118 smithing, so was the INITIAL splitting of the ore. The folding of the core (5x) was not trivial, and I failed on the second fold at 118. The folding of the core and the blade are the most diffiuclt parts. Some folks have reported up to 9 attempts before finally succeeding in the blade.
+
Dragon Necropolis (Ethereal Bladed Naginata)
 +
Alright, you got your Raid, you've slushed out the crap from above and now you have your Assembled Naginata, your Vial of Kromzek blood. The last step is to imbue your Naginata with the spirit of Garzicor. To do this, you'll need to purchase 2x Flawless Diamond and then awaken Garzicor's Corpse as well as Garzicor's Wraith and then subdue.  Garzicor's is summoned by saying the following phrase exactly at +1523, +1109 (same place as before with 2 item spawns)

The Kerran in the Warrens is a craftsperson named Koajin. He said that he needs a special set of tools and to bring them here along with a suitable plate of metal and a sketch of the tsuba's design, then he can construct the tsuba. The key phrase is "I need your help." The toolset is obtained from an innkeeper in Paineel named Taralani Rahnta. He tends a bar with some dancing skeletons playing instruments, and you need to hail him and give him 1000pp to get the toolset. However, the set is not LORE and not NO TRADE, so you can make a level 1 erudite and get the toolset easily.
+
you are one but two. your vengeance shall find a home.   MUST BE EXACT

PART VIII - SKYSHRINE
+
This will spawn Ghostly Presence. ****NOTE!!!! Ghostly Presence despawns very, very quickly ~ 60 seconds and there are several construct spawns in the area. This spawn shares the same spawn as the 2 ground spawns. Triggering either one will result in a 1-hour respawn, regardless of which one you trigger.

Hand in the staff, blade, and tsuba to Eldriaks.
+
Give the Ghostly Presence the Vial of Kromzek blood and Garzicor's Corpse will spawn.  Upon death, Garzicor's Wraith will spawn - requires several groups to kill.

: Eldriaks Fe'Dhar takes the staff, blade, and tsuba and looks them over. He says, 'Excellent craftsmanship. These will make a fine weapon. But one part remains to join all the pieces together. That is the fittings.' The wyvern then hands you the items back along with a vial of blood and says, 'This vial of blood will allow you to awaken Garzicor's spirit.
+
Once they are dead, two spirits should spawn; one at the skull you woke him up at and one further down towards the Paebala area. Hand each one a Flawless Diamond to receive:

You say, 'How do I awaken garzicor's spirit?
+
* Blackened Diamond
 +
* Gold Tinted Diamond

: Eldriaks Fe'Dhar says 'First you must awaken his spirit by speaking where you found his corpse. You must say exactly this: "You are one but two. Your vengeance shall find a home." Hopefully this will bring him to you. You must hurry and splash the vial of Kromzek blood upon his ghostly form. The taste of the blood will bring him fully into existence. You must then do battle with him. If you defeat him, you will have split his being which will be represented by two more shades. Give them each a flawless diamond. He will comply and choose these gems as a phylactery. Once you have the dual phylactery, you need only combine them with the assembled naginata in a forge to create the Ethereal Bladed Naginata. Bring me the weapon.
+
Final Combine - Tanks only (Ethereal Bladed Naginata)
 +
Alright, you're nearly there. At this point, you should be nervous as shit to do another combine. The last step is to do this combine:

PART IX - DRAGON NECROPOLIS
+
:In Forge: (Trivial: 160)
 +
1 x Assembled Naginata - Player Crafted
 +
1 x Blackened Diamond - Quested
 +
1 x Gold Tinted Diamond - Quested

Say the phrase, an invisible spirit spawns (just see name).
+
If all is successful, WOOT!  !!!!  Yay for you tanks!  But what about those clothies and all the rest who don't bash, huh?  Luckily, we get some love too!

Give the spirit the blood and a construct looking dragon will spawn (Garzicor's Remains) and attack. Pull this back up the ramp to before the bend, so any kos to CoV people are away from spawn point. Kill this, hits for 144 has an unmemorable AE, pretty weak.
+
---

Then Garzicor's Wraith spawns where the remains died. This is a translucent dragon. He hits for 350ish and has a very strong AE fear, but is not hard for anyone that does Zlandicar.
+
Garzicor's Book of the Fallen...those who have failed the last combine (as reported):
 +
* Arrynn of Europa
 +
* Carleton of Europa
 +
* Chest of Bregan D'Aerth
 +
* Cigaw of The Second Sons
 +
* Cressie of Blood Guard
 +
* Flopcakes of Kingdom
 +
* Nedorelis of Eclipse
 +
* Papier of Seal Team
 +
* Plano of Good Guys
 +
* Resku of Axiom, Three (Server first)
 +
* Transfusion of Vanquish
 +
* Ohmini of Good Guys
 +
* Muujo of Kingdom
 +
* Garzlok of Riot
 +
* Knuckle of Kingdom (3/31/2025)
 +
* Canidik of Kingdom

Once he is dead, another translucent looking dragon will spawn on CoV faction at the original spot, where you said the phrase. Give that a Flawless Diamond to get Magical Blackened Diamond back. There will be another translucent dragon just past it, deeper down the tunnel, give that one another Flawless Diamond and get another magical diamond back. Both returned diamonds are NO TRADE.
+
Eldriaks and the Turn-in
 +
So, ya thought we were done, eh?  Fooled you!  Head back to Eldriaks Fe`Dhar in Skyshrine and hand him the Ethereal Bladed Naginata you combined.  He should hand you back your final one:

PART X - The Forge
+
* Ethereal Bladed Naginata (Identifies as: Eldriaks Verified Naginata).

Go to a forge and combine the two diamonds with the assembled naginata. The result is an Etheral Bladed Naginata (did not identify it). Trivial at 237 smithing.
+
But, if you can't use it, he gives you some options:

PART XI - Skyshrine
+
Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'You have succeeded Iustus . Garzicor's spirit no longer calls to us from beyond. Now we ask that you do one more thing. You must wield this weapon against all giant kind to satiate Garzicor's thirst for vengeance. The Naginata has a special power against the Kromzek, they will fall easily before it. However, if you do not wish to, hand the weapon back to me and I'll give you an earring more worthy of a being of faith. If you are one of sorcerous powers, hand me the earring and Ill hand you a ring more suited to you.

Smith Finished Naginata Blade - Be prepared to redo this section if a combine fails

Obtain Bronzewood Staff

Obtain Finished Tsuba

Hand in Finished Naginata Blade + Bronzewood Staff + Finished Tsuba

Raid Garzicor's Wraith

  • Obtain 2x Flawless Diamond
  • Dragon Necropolis: Run to +1523, +1109 exactly, say "you are one but two. your vengeance shall find a home." to spawn a Ghostly Presence at +1523, +1109 (Stays up for 60 Seconds and then depops, respawn timer is 1 hour). Make sure to have 2 spaces between those two sentences; if you copy and paste from here you may need to add a space. Use say, not ooc, to trigger the spawn.
  • Dragon Necropolis: Hail a Ghostly Presence, hand him Vial of Kromzek blood to spawn Garzicor's Corpse at +1523, +1109
  • Dragon Necropolis: Kill Garzicor's Corpse to spawn Garzicor's Wraith at +1523, +1109
  • Dragon Necropolis: Kill Garzicor's Wraith (raid target) to spawn translucent dragon (v1) on CoV faction at +1523, +1000 and translucent dragon (v2) on CoV faction at +1500, +800 (Stays up Approx 15 Mins before despawning)
  • Dragon Necropolis: Hail a translucent dragon (v1), hand him Flawless Diamond to receive Blackened Diamond
  • Dragon Necropolis: Hail a translucent dragon (v2), hand him Flawless Diamond to receive Gold Tinted Diamond

Final Smithing Combine

Final Hand-in

THIS IS NOT A ROUND ROBIN TURN IN. IF YOU TURN IN AND YOU MISS YOUR ITEM, MUST COMPLETELY REDO THE QUEST

Walkthrough

Assumptions:

  • You're 60th Level
  • You have a group or raid guild
  • You're familiar with all the zones in question
  • You have some money to spend on Tradeskills and miscellaneous trades. You'll need approximately 15kpp~ to do this all. (7kpp~ depending on how far you go for blacksmithing/if farming materials/class/cha/wis/int, 7kpp~ for Gems if buying, 1kpp for turn in)

START - SKYSHRINE/THURGADIN

This quest can be done in really any order, however, for simplicity sake, we'll start in Thurgadin. You can, if you would prefer start at Oglard in Skyshrine, but he only directs you to Thurgadin, anyway, so...

Go to Thurgadin and locate Loremaster Sarl in the Statue Room directly across from the Icewell Zone Line.

You say, 'Can you tell me the name of a slain dragon'

Loremaster Sarl says 'The name of Dragon you say? One that was slain? Hmmm, sounds interesting. Like I said, we've had little contact with Dragons, but I vaguely recall an ancient legend about a slain dragon and one of our people meeting. Follow me to the Library and we'll talk along the way.

Once he starts walking, you can say "Black" and he will immediately spawn in the library ready for the next segment of the quest. Run there and hand him 50pp to receive Worn Coldain Tome.

Perfect! Reading the book elludes to someone named Burdael having seen a dying dragon. Also, Sarl mentions something about this being a rescued book from their old home and speak of Froststone. The only other place in Velious with Dwarves is the Crystal Caverns, so that's the next place we go!

Crystal Caverns

Historian Baenek is located on the bottom floor in the Dwarve outpost in Crystal Caverns. Give him the Worn Coldain Tome.

  • Your faction standing with CitizensofFroststone got better. (+10)

After you kill Burdael, loot Onyxbrand and head back to Oglard in Skyshrine.

Oglard hand-in requires Ally faction? He eats Onyxbrand with amiable, please update if you know what level is required but, to be safe, be Ally

Dragon Necropolis

This spawn shares the same spawn as the Ghost Prensence. Triggering either one will result in a 1-hour respawn, regardless of which one you trigger.

Do NOT leave a construct (since they do NOT reset) at the zone in or out in the open.

Skyshrine (Finished Naginata Blade)

At this point, head back to Oglard and hand him the urn.(Kindly faction was NOT sufficient for this turn in) He'll immediately hand it back and send you to Eldriaks Fe`Dhar. Hand Eldriaks the urn and he will hand you a book titled: "The blade" (instructions on how to form the Naginata Blade) and a Sanctified bone dust (this is two dusts).

The book gives you instructions on how to fabricate the blade as well as the rest of the components to manufacture the full polearm. You'll need to get the following items in the following zones:

Blacksmithing section

Now, this is the part that typically trips folks up. You need Blacksmithing to NO LOWER THAN 210 and Pottery to NO LOWER THAN 122 to ensure the lowest possible chance of failure (always 5% min). Pottery's easy, just follow the guide, but Smithing can take a bit longer and involve some coin. You can attempt this at 200, but I strongly advise against it.

Once you're where you want to be in tradeskills, do the following:

In Forge:
1 x Forging Hammer - Bought, Quested, Dropped, Returned on Failure, Returned on Success
1 x Smithing Chisel - Bought, Returned on Failure, Returned on Success
1 x Starmetal Ore - Dropped
This will return

In Forge:
1 x Dusted Starmetal Block - Crafted
1 x Forging Hammer - Bought, Quested, Dropped, Returned on Failure, Returned on Success
1 x Smithing Chisel - Bought, Returned on Failure, Returned on Success

This will return Blade core-1st fold. Continue doing the combines like this:

In Forge:
1 x Blade core-1st fold - Crafted
1 x Forging Hammer - Bought, Quested, Dropped, Returned on Failure, Returned on Success
1 x Smithing Chisel - Bought, Returned on Failure, Returned on Success

until you get a Blade core-5th fold. Once you have your core folded 5 times, you'll need to shape it with just the forging hammer:

DO NOT be confused about this part. There are two bone dust applications and each one leads to a half of the sword so if you fail the first ore/dust combine, you can still do the second part. You'll have to reobtain the Sanctified bone dust to reattempt the first, though.

you'll need to do some pottery. You need Pottery to 128 in order to trivial this part. No sweat, though, since most of what you need to do it is located in Thurgadin.
Once you have Pottery to 128 (or w/e you feel comfortable risking), do the following combine at the pottery wheel:
In Pottery Wheel:
1 x Small Block of Clay - Crafted, Bought, Dropped
1 x Water Flask - Foraged, Crafted, Summoned, Bought, Quested, Dropped

Then (Trivial < 122),

In Pottery Wheel:
1 x Clay/water mixture - Crafted
1 x Complete shaped blade - Crafted

Burning Woods (Bronzewood Staff)

In the Northwestern section of Burning Woods, there's a large crater with a spaceship-style hut on stilts. This is the giant fort. Inside the giant fort up the ramp are a series of small huts but 1 big one. This big hut is what you want. There are two static spawns in there and each one has a chance to spawn Carpenter Grundo 6:40 respawn. This may take a while, but the giants aren't super hard, so keep at it and he'll show up.

Once Carpenter Grundo pops, kill him and loot your

ready to click. You can go in with a group and fight your way to it, but the easier way to do it is get a Dead Man Floating, Invisibility and Invisibility versus Undead (this is commonly called "Double Invis" for those than can do it).

Another trick is to sit and alt-tab to discord (or something else to where you can still see you character) when your floating animation reaches its lowest point then tab back in when your animation is at its highest. Rinse/repeat until you can't go any higher.

From here, you need to head to the section on the map that looks like a horizonal 'H'. The

Kael (Chunk of Chronium Ore - Finished Tsuba)

This is undisputedly the most difficult part as you'll need a raid or large group to pull from the Arena/Temple area. The best time, if you can, is to wait for a Statue or Vindi pop and ask the raid/group to pull an armor after the target's dead.

- Krixis

However you do it, you'll need to kill an Armor of Zek and loot the

Paineel/The Warrens

This part is either going to require factioning in the Warrens until amiably faction (which has its own benefits); starting your own level 1 Evil Erudite; or trusting someone else with the appropriate faction to handle 1000pp. However you do it (the toolkit is tradeable), you need to go to #9 on the map of Paineel and talk to Taralani Rahnta. Simply 'Hail' him to confirm that you can do the turn in (sneak works), then hand him 1000pp and he'll return to you a

to The Warrens. Nothing in here sees invis; invis down to the Prison area (take a right coming from Paineel, then the first door on the left). This is marked as #10 on The Warrens map. Hail Koajin.

You say, 'Hail, Koajin'

Koajin slowly looks up at you, his eyes glazed in exhaustion. Obviously the kobolds have worked him near to the point of death. You notice he is strong and his paws are scarred here and there. He must be some sort of craftsman. After gazing at you a few moments he realizes you are not a kobold and says, 'Hurry and leave this place, High Elf. Or you'll end up sharing this cell with us and wishing death upon yourself.'

You say, 'I need your help'

Koajin says, 'You need my help to build one? I can help you, but I'll need my tools first. Then maybe when I have my tools I can break out of this rusty cage and run. My tools were taken when they first captured me. They used to force me to use them, show them our craft. I showed them what I could, fearing death, but I haven't seen them since. If you can find them, bring them here along with a suitable plate of metal and a sketch of the tsuba's design. Then I'll see what I can do.'

Everyone should get this dialogue. Give him the Mandala sketch, the Kejekan Tool Kit and the Chronium Plate and he'll return to you

Dragon Necropolis (Ethereal Bladed Naginata)

Alright, you got your Raid, you've slushed out the crap from above and now you have your Assembled Naginata, your Vial of Kromzek blood. The last step is to imbue your Naginata with the spirit of Garzicor. To do this, you'll need to purchase 2x Flawless Diamond and then awaken Garzicor's Corpse as well as Garzicor's Wraith and then subdue. Garzicor's is summoned by saying the following phrase exactly at +1523, +1109 (same place as before with 2 item spawns)

you are one but two. your vengeance shall find a home. MUST BE EXACT

Give the Ghostly Presence the Vial of Kromzek blood and Garzicor's Corpse will spawn. Upon death, Garzicor's Wraith will spawn - requires several groups to kill.

Once they are dead, two spirits should spawn; one at the skull you woke him up at and one further down towards the Paebala area. Hand each one a Flawless Diamond to receive:

Final Combine - Tanks only (Ethereal Bladed Naginata)

But, if you can't use it, he gives you some options:

Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'You have succeeded Iustus . Garzicor's spirit no longer calls to us from beyond. Now we ask that you do one more thing. You must wield this weapon against all giant kind to satiate Garzicor's thirst for vengeance. The Naginata has a special power against the Kromzek, they will fall easily before it. However, if you do not wish to, hand the weapon back to me and I'll give you an earring more worthy of a being of faith. If you are one of sorcerous powers, hand me the earring and Ill hand you a ring more suited to you.

Give naginata back to him:

Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'Tis sad to see that the weapon will not be wielded by it's maker, but here is your earring. Wear it well.

Give him the earring:

Eldriaks Fe`Dhar says 'So you prefer the ring? Very well, may it serve you well ___Name___.
