While EverQuest has many factions, only a much smaller number actually give some meaningful in-game benefit (beyond simply affecting which mobs attack you). This category distinguishes those factions.

Faction Summaries (by Geography)

All of the factions in this section are for city guards. Many of these factions also have quests associated with them.

Many cities have other dangerous NPCs which are not on their guard faction, so gaining (only) the factions below does not guarantee safe travel through all parts of its related city.

Odus Cities

Odus only has two main cities, Erudin (High Guard of Erudin) and Paineel (Heretics). Both of these factions can be raised by killing kobolds in The Warrens.

Antonica Cities (Good)

Freeport

The (corrupt) guard faction in Freeport is the Freeport Militia.

In addition to the guard factions in Freeport the city also has a faction of Paladins known as the Knights of Truth, and their faction is needed (along with Priests of Life for the Zimel's Blades (SoulFire) quest for .

Highpass

The Highpass Guards faction is (unexpectedly) the faction of the guards of the city of Highpass.

Qeynos

The Guards of Qeynos is the faction of the guards of Qeynos. This faction is useful for quests such as the Qeynos Badge Quests for . In addition to the guard faction in Qeynos the city also has a faction of Clerics of Rodcet Nife known as the Priests of Life, and their faction is needed (along with Knights of Truth for the Zimel's Blades (SoulFire) quest for .

Antonica Cities (Evil)

Grobb

The guards of the Troll city of Grobb are on Da Bashers faction.

Neriak

The Dark Elf city of Neriak has two guard factions: Dreadguard Inner and Dreadguard Outer. Both these and the Dark Bargainers faction (which includes both the NPC in Neriak who sells and some Dark Elf merchants in South Ro) can be raised via the Bottle of Red Wine quest.

Oggok

The guards of the Ogre city of Oggok are on Oggok Guards faction, which can be raised via the The Bread Shipment (Feerrott) quest.

Kunark Cities

Cabilis

The guards of the Iksar city of Cabilis are on the Legion of Cabilis.

Firiona Vie

The primary faction of the "good" city, Firiona Vie is Inhabitants of Firiona Vie.

The Overthere

The "evil" city is The Overthere, whose residents are on Venril Sathir (Faction) (which is needed by non-charming, non--using characters for the quest for the ).

Velious Cities

Velious has three cities:

• Thurgadin (Coldain)
• Kael (Kromzek)
• Skyshrine (Claws of Veeshan)

All of these factions can be used to get Velious Class Armor, and all can be raised by killing members of one of the other two factions.
